Public Involvement Specialist

Location: Austin Texas

ICF is seeking a Public Involvement Specialist. This person will support a broad range of public and private infrastructure projects by planning, organizing, and attending outreach events including Public Meetings and Hearings. The ideal candidate would bring initiative, inquisitiveness, a comfort with ambiguity and an enthusiasm for understanding and solving problems in a team-based environment. This position is based in our Austin, Texas, office and involves periodic travel.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate public outreach efforts for major projects
  • Coordinate logistics for public outreach events, including securing venues, contacting newspapers, and hiring technical support staff such as translators, court reporters, and audio technicians
  • Participate in public outreach events
  • Serve as a liaison between the project's technical and public involvement teams, and work with varied groups and individuals
  • Assist with the development and production of public information materials, brochures, exhibit boards, presentations, and summary reports
  • Travel up to 25% of the time for outreach events and public meetings. Some overnight travel required

What you need to have (minimum qualifications):

  • BA/BS degree in communications, public relations, environmental sciences, transportation planning, environmental planning, or similar discipline
  • 1+ year(s) professional experience in outreach, project management, customer engagement, administration and/or related experience
  • Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check

What We'd Like You to Have (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience preparing for and attending Public Meetings, Public Hearings, and Stakeholder Meetings
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, including NEPA
  • English/Spanish bilingual
  • TxDOT Pre-Certification

  • Ability to work independently and strong time management skills
  • Strong communication skills are required for both internal and external interaction
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, including ability to prioritize and multi-task under strict or competing deadlines
  • Desire to take initiative and support the team in whatever ways are needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to succeed with new and challenging tasks
  • Computer skills should include the MS Office Suite along with excellent technical writing and communication skills

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$49,148.00 - $83,552.00
