This position will specifically support the Stamps.com Brand:

Stamps.com is the leading provider of postage online and shipping software solutions to customers including individuals, small businesses, e-commerce shippers, enterprises with multiple locations and high volume mailers and shippers. Stamps.com offers software solutions that help businesses run their shipping and mailing operations. Stamps.com is part of Auctane, along with other leading solutions such as ShipStation, ShipEngine, Metapack and ShippingEasy.

Team/Department Description:

The Communications team is dedicated to telling the story of Auctane and its family of brands through a variety of mediums. Working collaboratively with the wider marketing team and others, this team is responsible for driving the communications strategies of several leading brands in the shipping and mailing industry. 

Strategic Imperative:

This role will be focused on telling the story of Stamps.com, a long-established brand with an exciting future. We’re looking for someone with strong media relations experience who can develop a PR strategy that will build on the brand reputation of Stamps.com and help it enter the next phase of its brand journey. The role will have a secondary focus on social media, extending the storylines used in PR efforts to the 100K+ followers of the Stamps.com brand on social channels.  The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects with ease, communicate with team members effectively, prioritize competing initiatives, and bring our most compelling stories to the public. 

Primary Objectives:

  1. Strengthen the awareness of and trust in the Stamps.com brand through earned media opportunities.  
  2. Work with multiple teams, including executives, to plan, execute, release, and pitch company news. 
  3. Maintain media relations in the shipping and mailing industries. Work closely with company spokespeople on commentary and media opportunities. 
  4. Support social media efforts by posting relevant content to Stamps.com social channels, in collaboration with the Social Media Manager.

Essential Position Duties: (Typically performed, daily, weekly, monthly)

  • Monitor media trends and topic coverage and help identify opportunities for original research, thought leadership content, or commentary. 
  • Report on media coverage and share of voice. 
  • Build relationships with thought leaders to grow industry awareness.
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
  • Vet awards and oversee submissions process
  • Maintain a social media calendar and regularly publish content to Stamps.com channels. 
  • Find opportunities to engage with social followers and support the online reputation of the brand.
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR and social media results on a regular basis.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:                  

  • 5+ years of public relations experience preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or English preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • PR or marketing agency experience working with multiple brands a plus 
  • Demonstrated experience in creating plans that grow eminence and awareness for a brand
  • Demonstrated experience in developing plans to grow social media follower counts and engagement and driving a social media calendar to meet those objectives (high follower counts a plus) 
  • Experience in selecting and setting key performance metrics and success in growing performance to measured objectives.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Clear and concise communicator, written and verbal 
  • Proactive, well-organized, and highly adaptive
  • Extreme attention to detail and high quality standards
  • Able to track down answers and meet deadlines 
  • Curious and creative, willing to test new ideas
  • Adaptable, able to develop and document new processes 
  • Knowledge of the mailing and shipping industry a plus 

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:                

  • Muck Rack (or similar pitching/reporting software) experience preferred 
  • Social media experience including Facebook, twitter, and Instagram
  • Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail 

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional, less than 10%
