ABOUT THE POSITION

In Global Brand Marketing, we focus on our consumers' behavior, and create experiences around the globe to build their connection to our brand. Whether it's media strategy, brand/product storytelling, content creation or partner activations, the consumer is at the heart of everything we do. And, we continue to stay true to our brand, even as we evolve to meet the demands of the ever-changing landscape.

Our Global Brand Marketing team is looking for someone to help develop and implement public relations and communication plans for Columbia Sportswear, including seasonal plan development, management of media and other key relationships, and product marketing. This person will be responsible for integration with other marketing channels (social media, advertising, international comms, key accounts, direct to consumer, etc.) and for stewarding seasonal collections through the entire comms process. We are looking for someone who will serve as a thoughtful spokesperson for the Columbia Sportswear brand, crafting messaging and delivering communications across several channels and product categories.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Implement public relations and communications efforts for Columbia's sportswear, footwear and outdoor categories that position Columbia as the most innovative company in the outdoors.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining deep relationships with media and influential voices through the execution of several events and campaigns throughout the year.
  • Integrate closely with Dir. of Communications, the PR agency of record, event planning teams, and other vendors to ensure initiatives and seasonal efforts run smoothly, exceed metrics, and remain within budget.
  • Coordinate special projects within marketing team that include fashion collaborations, celebrity engagements, and licensing efforts with an eye toward surprising stories and earned coverage.
  • Work with multi-channel marketing team to set marketing goals, track and summarize results, and meet/exceed goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, advertising, and social media team to manage media and consumer engagement, including event agency management, travel coordination, shipping and general project management.
  • Handle media inquiries, coordinate spokesperson interviews, create media opportunities and lead product seeding efforts to drive reviews and timely coverage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU ARE

  • Organized with high attention to detail.
  • Communicative and can collaborate cross functionally.
  • Able to conduct interpersonal interactions with the media, members of the public, and Company personnel.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience specializing in public relations, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of related experience in Public Relations.
  • Experience executing PR and message plans, developing brand awareness, and coordinating marketing strategies.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of media relations principles and procedures.
  • Strong writing skills with knowledge of and experience with journalistic style writing.
