Public Relations Specialist

Position Summary:

The Public Relations Specialist will be an integral member of the corporate marketing and communications team driving public relations and promotion of the company. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to implement integrated communications programs from initial planning with stakeholders through to execution. To be successful, a communications professional at Bloom is a strong communicator and critical thinker with a strong business acumen and technical aptitude.

As the Public Relations Specialist you will gain experience across a variety of disciplines including integrated communications planning, brand journalism, media relations, thought leadership and social media content development, newsroom management, and content amplification strategies. Your insightful contribution will play a critical role in helping to expand the company's brand share of voice in the marketplace.

The Public Relations Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Marketing. This role is preferably based in San Jose, CA.

Essential Functions

• Strategic public relations program planning, initiative-taking editorial story mining, communications content and presentation development, media and customer engagement, event support and PR success reports
• Content Development: write news releases, develop targeted media lists and pitches by industry, blog, and social media posts, briefing documents, FAQs, by-line articles, and executive summaries; conduct media and competitor trends research
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to identify new public relations program opportunities in support of business goals and new program launches to maintain consistent brand presence in market
• Active contributor to program development and brand storytelling execution: support global and regional PR campaigns, executive visibility and awards opportunities, digital strategies, product launches and events; and executes strong business acumen and ability to manage up when needed to ensure assigned projects are on task and moving forward

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field
• Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in the technology industry
• Demonstrated experience in media relations, public relations writing, project management, strategic planning and execution, media engagement and event support, and rapid response programs
• Existing business and technology media relationships a plus
• Strong presentation and people skills
• Demonstrated record of developing and executing PR plans and strategies
• Excellent writer and communicator, detail oriented, strong organization, and prioritization skills, initiative-taking, able to work independently, easily adapts to change, adept at learning new and complex technology themes, and excels at problem solving
• Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
• Critical thinker with strong business acumen
• Passion for brand journalism and media story telling
• Technical curiosity to learn Bloom's core technology and value proposition.
• Familiarity with Windows/Mac environments and business productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and online content management tools (e.g., Adobe, Drupal, WordPress, etc.); Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus

Salary Ranges:

$68,100.00 - $97,900.00
