Publication Producer

Summary:
The Publication Producer interacts on a daily basis with advertising, newsrooms, internal and external clients, and other operations departments, to ensure that all print publications are produced accurately and on time. This team is responsible for dummying the Denver Post and Prairie Mountain Media commercial publications, reviewing ads and all content, making final ad corrections, troubleshooting, proofing, or any other preparatory work needed to produce, finish, & output all publications on schedule.
Publication Producers also receive, review, and process new print jobs that are acquired, to ensure correct sizing and layouts, and then order and process the jobs through the production workflow. Additional responsibilities include processing and maintaining detailed records of all jobs handled in the department, and reporting to Managers and Finance as outlined.
What you will do:

• Communicate with internal and external clients, and print clients regarding the production of The Denver Post, Prairie Mountain Media, and all other commercial print publications produced at this facility
• Work and coordinate with key members of advertising, creative, design, Customer Advocates, newsrooms, Management, and others to keep all jobs within the established production schedules, practices, and guidelines
• Make approved changes or corrections to ads or content as needed to provide accuracy and on time production
• Create, revise and communicates changes to page dummies for any required publications
• Paginate classified and classified related products
• Review and approve proofs for accuracy and successful print reproduction
• Set up and/ or verifies setup of all requisite systems prior to operation
• Manage the output to any / all required workflow areas
• Coordinate with outside vendors and commercial clients for job content, printed accuracy and corrections of any layout anomalies
• Produce and maintain makeup data for all printed publications, and reports weekly, for budgetary and accounting department tracking
• Act as the primary liaison for all prepress printing projects between the client and The Denver Post
• Coordinate processing of file uploads for all commercial / printed jobs at the Denver print facility
• Create and distribute daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports as needed for the budgetary tracking
• Monitor, maintain, and modify any department-related databases, spreadsheets, and print schedules
• Calculate variances on Alternate Zoning Reports, communicate and coordinate any changes to the Advertising, Mailroom, Circulation Operations, and Ad Services departments

What you will bring:

• Associate degree in printing / related field, or 3 years of industry experience in commercial printing
• Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
• Excellent attendance, punctuality, professionalism and a commitment to quality work
• Detail oriented, organized, & multi-tasking capabilities necessary
• Excellent customer service skills adaptable to short notice requests and requirements
• Excellent written, oral communication, and listening skills mandatory
• Knowledge of publication layout, pagination, output, and ad production systems necessary
• Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CS, Mac, and PC operating systems proficiency

The hourly wage is $24.98. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition program, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
