Publisher Relations is responsible for all matters pertaining to the development of relationships with third-party content suppliers, including leveraging key accounts for content acquisition.
A seasoned professional in possession of diverse skills, from licensing deals for IP assets to driving internal projects and deadlines for timely availability of titles, products, and services. You have developed and maintained the delivery of strategic licensing opportunities. You have a proven account management and licensing background and are proficient in building rapport quickly with existing clients, new clients and internal departments. You are a serious collaborator who comfortably handles high-level, sensitive information, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What You'll Do Here:
- Structure, negotiate and implement new deals for critical third-party content from key content providers, publishers, and aggregation partners to further yearly business and product goals
- Expand content selection from existing content partners
- Establish and grow strong positive relationships with existing and potential content providers; maintain a portfolio of publisher relations accounts and related responsibilities
- Engage and communicate with the wider organization, especially Content Strategy, Legal, Royalties, and Product partners at a decision-making level to ensure agreement terms are negotiated and executed accurately
- Manage data standards and documentation of all processes related to content licensing
- Understand basic finance principles and be proactive in spotting issues and working towards resolutions
- Drive internal increased efficiencies and savings, renegotiating agreements to improve financial terms as needed
- Understand publisher contracts, including legal and business terms to be able to explain both to publishers
- Manage business communications/messaging of royalty information, usage reports and metadata to help publishers understand the value opportunity of working with Gale
- Support revenue goals through the management and delivery of key due diligence, administrative, and client management tasks
- Travel as needed
Skills You Will Need Here:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 year's professional experience in Publisher Relations/Educational Sales and/or Publishing
- Demonstrated success at handling multiple projects and tasks, and meeting established timelines
- Ability to meet and exceed yearly signing goals
- Understanding of royalty calculations and royalty statements
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Negotiation of sophisticated deals
- Influence without authority, ability to say no and push back diplomatically on requests that will lead to confusion or dissidence later
- Strong project management, time management, decision-making, presentation and organization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop internal/external relationships to build trust and work collaboratively with cross functional teams and strategic/high profile clients
- Excellent analytical skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to identify and recognize situations that require escalation and follow through to resolution and communicate to publishers
- Ability to achieve under pressure and to agreed targets
