Publishing and Marketing Assistant

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Publishing and Marketing Assistant to join our retail marketing and creative services team and help bring our marketing plans to life.
As a Publishing and Marketing Assistant, you will be a vital part of our efforts to support independent bookstores, libraries, and various partners. In addition to handling general administrative tasks for the department, the ideal candidate will have effective organizational and communication skills that will ensure smooth coordination and execution of our marketing initiatives.
This role is based in our Naperville office onsite 5 days/week, where you'll work closely with a variety of internal teams and external business partners.
Publishing and Marketing Assistant Responsibilities:
- Coordinate mailings for our Independent bookstore, library, awards committees, and advertising partners.
- Create PowerPoints, graphs, and other presentation materials to present to decision-makers.
- Monitoring preorder marketing campaigns, making improvements as needed.
- Assist with events, festivals, and trade shows by booking events, securing venues for dinners, submitting authors for panel opportunities, and attending shows and traveling up to five times per year.
- Manage internal data entry to ensure that our databases remain up to date.
- Schedule meetings and run PowerPoints for large company-wide meetings.
- Work with our design team to write copy for marketing materials and assist with email marketing.
- Analyze sales data and create reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience in similar role.
- Exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail, adept at managing multiple tasks daily.
- Proactive and collaborative mindset, passionate about books and contributing to team success.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint and Microsoft Office tools.
- Must love books!
- Willing to travel up to 5 times per year.
