Publishing Technology Specialist
Job Description
We are looking for a proactive problem solver who is enthusiastic about learning new processes and technologies to join our growing production environment. Reporting to the Director of Publishing Technology, this position will support the software and processes required for the editorial and production workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Support the processes for publishing to all print and digital outputs including web, mobile devices, eBooks and PDF replicas
- Troubleshoot technical, user, configuration, and other related issues for the company's enterprise level DAM and Content Creation System as well as Adobe InDesign/InCopy, and related software, custom integrations, and other publishing technology software
- Respond to queries, complaints and issues raised by internal/external customers via internal ticketing system
- Work with vendors and integrators to escalate support issues as well as integration solutions
- Assist in testing and documenting process improvements, software updates and/or production systems upgrades.
- Assist with end-user training for publishing systems software and workflows
- Support best practices for publishing workflows
Requirements:
- Experience with InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat required
- Knowledge of other Adobe software, including InCopy & font management software, a plus
- Understanding of print production process & template management, a must
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills
- Exposure to DAM and workflow management systems such as Woodwing, K4, a plus
- Scripting experience a plus: javascript, json, xml, AppleScript, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to articulate complex processes and concepts to non-experts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task across multiple projects
- Experience with both mac and PC platforms
- Education: Bachelor's Degree, with minimum 3 years full-time experience in print & digital publishing
