Purchaser

The Purchaser role is an essential component of Alto’s Supply Chain team.  Reporting to the Procurement Supervisor, your key responsibilities will be sourcing important medications and ensuring Alto has adequate supply to meet the needs of the patients we support.  You will also be counted on to develop strong and trustworthy relationships with vendors, manage working capital, and help support Alto’s short and long term objectives.

The daily responsibilities of a Purchaser include reviewing and submitting purchase orders, following through on lead-times to ensure the delivery of orders, new vendor and product setups, and working closely with the pharmacy staff to support their procurement needs. You will leverage your analytical side to contribute to margin expansion efforts, identify cost savings, increase efficiencies in our processes via SOP development/ refinement, and help Alto to optimize its supply chain. As a direct client of Alto’s software, you will be encouraged to actively explore potential enhancements and identify inefficiencies within our purchasing and inventory process and engage with our cross-functional teammates as we work towards improvements.

• Analyze, track, and manage inventory levels 
• Review and submit purchase orders to vendors
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing vendors.  Continually strive to drive mutually beneficial and collaborative relationships that will result in improved supply chain activities across the supply network
• Submit product database requests to ensure accurate product attributes/characteristics 
• Monitor and track supplier performance 
• Forecast future supply needs and initiate proactive communications identifying short-term and long-term supplier capacity constraints.
• Leverage financial and analytical insights to drive purchasing optimization and margin expansion
• Participate and support Alto cost savings initiatives through collaborative partnerships with the Finance team
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support growth, scale, and innovative initiatives

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess a working knowledge of financial metrics and prior experience with an order management system
• Have strong business judgment and analytical skills, and can use data to prioritize, drive strategic discussion, and ultimately deliver real outcomes. Ability to communicate and listen effectively with great written, verbal and presentation skills. 
• Are extremely resourceful and entrepreneurial. Enjoy doing whatever it takes to break through unexpected barriers and obstacles, and balance detail-orientation with the ability to move fast.
• Proactive and detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications: 

• 2+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or pharmacy operations
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Experience supporting ecommerce, delivery models, and/or consumer retail - healthcare experience a plus
• Experience in a startup or other fast-changing environment and in consumer markets

• Frequent repeating motions required to operate a computer that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Sedentary work: Sitting most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Walking & standing are required occasionally.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $63,000 - $79,000

Commission Eligible: No

Equity Eligible: Yes

Travel: Yes - Up to 10% of the time for team or company off/on-sites. 

Location Requirement: Employment at Alto is limited to individuals residing in the following states: California, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, Illinois, New York, Kansas, Texas, Maryland, Washington (WA), Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin.
