Movement Labs is a movement incubator and the leading peer-to-peer text political consultancy supporting progressives and grassroots activists nationwide. Our clients span both establishment and movement efforts, from senior Democratic Congressional leadership to Black Lives Matter. Your work will help mobilize 100,000 votes in the top battleground states to stop Donald Trump and recruit thousands of candidates for 100,000 elections that go uncontested every year.ย 

We're seeking a meticulous QA Test Specialist to play a critical role in safeguarding the quality, reliability, and security of our mission-critical outreach tools. As the QA Test Specialist you will report to the CTO. You'll design and execute comprehensive test strategies to ensure our platform functions seamlessly, and your rigorous testing will be instrumental in minimizing errors and preventing disruptions that could impact critical voter outreach efforts. This role is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • System Monitoring and Performance: Design, implement, and maintain monitoring systems to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of our infrastructure and applications.
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Act as a primary point of contact for production incidents, providing timely response and resolution to minimize downtime.
  • Automation and Tooling: Develop and maintain automation tools to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to integrate reliability into the software development lifecycle and promote best practices.
  • Capacity Planning: Perform capacity planning and scaling activities to handle growth and ensure system resilience.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and incident reports.

Qualifications

Required skills:

    • 2-3 years of post-education work in a technical role.
    • Experience utilizing a variety of Google Cloud products.
    • Intermediate experience with python or another object-oriented programming language and the ability to learn python quickly.
    • Significant experience with SQL (postgres preferred).
    • Competence with software development best practices including version control, code review, testing, metrics and monitoring, security, continuous integration deployment, and asynchronous deployment.

Preferred experience:

    • Experience with quality assurance and quality control testing and systems.
    • Familiarity with pandas or similar data analysis tools.
    • Comfort with flask web framework.
    • Building dashboards and data visualizations.
    • Passion for uplifting the work of progressive activists, organizations, and candidates.
    • Demonstrated detail orientation.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.ย 
    • Ability to communicate clearly, directly, and patiently.
    • Ability to work independently and regularly communicate status updates.
    • Remote experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary of $75,000-$83,500 as part of a transparent salary structure with clear levels of advancement.ย 
  • Excellent health, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) matching, work-from-home stipends, and unlimited Paid Time Off.
  • This role is a cycle-based hire through November, but we hope to find opportunities to extend where possible.ย 
  • This position is not eligible for the collective bargaining unit.
