QC Analyst I

Overview
The QC Analyst I is an entry-level, non-exempt position that reports to the QC Management Team. The QC Analyst I is responsible for performing quality control testing on various state-of-the-art diagnostic tests, components and standards for the food and beverage industries.
Essential Functions
- Perform quality control testing on various state-of-the-art diagnostic test kits, components and standards for the food and beverage industries.
- Be part of a QC team dedicated to assuring the quality of these diagnostic tests for food safety.
- Critically evaluate testing in process to determine root cause of out of specification results and carry out appropriate follow up as needed.
- Prepare and summarize data in a timely manner for review by QC/QA management.
- Ensure that lab cleanliness and safety standards are always maintained.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- BS or equivalent in Biochemistry or life sciences related field.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Outlook
- Understanding of basic statistics
- 0 to 2 years QC/QA experience
- Available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM with some flexibility.
Preferred:
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- 0 to 2 years GMP/GLP experience
- Understanding of aseptic/sterile technique
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Diligent and dependable
- Ability to give and receive feedback.
- Self-motivated
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Able to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
- Able to visually inspect tests for proper performance and/or defects.
- Able to remain in a stationary position for an extended length of time.
- Able to work at a lab bench and at a computer for an extended length of time.
- Able to work for 10 to 15 minutes in low temperature environments (4°C and -20°C)
- Able to work for up to 4 hours in low humidity environment (
- Able to safely handle antibiotics and mycotoxins in dry powder and concentrated liquid form in a laboratory setting.
- Able to operate a pipette repeatedly and accurately for up to 1000 repetitions per day.
