QC Inspector II - Material Quality Assurance (MQA)
Do you have an interest in aerospace and manufacturing? Do you have attention to detail? Do you have a tenacious desire to learn about electronics, components, and the materials that make technology operate and that support Space and National Defense? If you answered yes, then this may be the aerospace position for you!
This is the front end of the Integrated Supply Chain - where all the material enters the business and you are a key part of the material verification process. You will ensure our suppliers are providing components and assemblies that meet Ball's requirements, prevent malicious and counterfeit goods from affecting programs, and will help our nation and the warfighter by providing the best possible products.
In this position, you will be exposed to different commodities, such as mechanical and electronic components, as well as manufacturing support items. You will learn about the systems that plan and control manufacturing, part specifications, engineering drawings, and how the aerospace supply chain operates. You will also become proficient at using a variety of measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and digital multimeters.
What You'll Do:
  • Inspect incoming mechanical, electrical, and production material for conformance to purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, and specifications using visual, mechanical, and electrical test methods.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gages, etc.
  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
  • Refer/document unusual inspection problems to supervisor, lead, or Quality Engineer.
  • Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.
  • Maintain inspection records by utilizing many different electronic information systems.
  • May be trained to detect counterfeit parts and prevent them from entering the manufacturing process.
  • Obtain and maintain all process certification required for assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Solid problem solving ability and good mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency using Windows and common Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to understand and consistently follow work instructions and checklists.
  • Good physical dexterity and coordination to safely handle parts, color vision/discrimination, and visual acuity for small details (usage of microscopes, etc.).

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Ball Aerospace is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies. Please remember that regardless of the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and other states, possession and use continues to be illegal under the federal Controlled Substances Act. This includes the use of some CBD products. A post-offer, pre-employment drug test is a condition of employment.
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Relocation for this position is not available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $23.08 - $30.29 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
