Title: QA Engineer

Reports to: VP, Engineering

Location: US/Remote


Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert in standard quality assurance processes for your agile development team.  The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the team delivers a high-quality product to our customers and help OnBoard move toward an automation-first mindset when it comes to quality.  As part of a cross-functional Agile team, the QA Engineer will be working day-to-day with front-end, back-end, mobile developers, product owners, and other QA specialists to deliver high-quality features that provide value and impact to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the automation test suites and frameworks in an agile development environment.
  • Write automated test cases/perform manual tests to encompass the acceptance criteria in user stories.
  • Log defects detected by test cases into Azure DevOps and work with Product on prioritization.
  • Using an automation-first mindset, design, develop and document test plans, test cases and conduct smoke testing for every product release to ensure business requirements are met and ensuring high-quality deliveries.
  • Assess and analyze issues reported by production users and identify root cause.
  • Help to champion building in quality throughout the SDLC and driving continuous improvement through active participation in agile ceremonies to help the team predict testing challenges and otherwise help them think more holistically about the quality of upcoming work.
  • Work with Engineering, Product Owners, and end users as products are developed, staying current with key design decisions, and become the product/technology expert.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability through proactive task management.

Skills and Experience Needed:

  • 5+ years of development or quality assurance experience in an Agile environment
  • 2+ years of experience developing, executing, and monitoring automation test suites in Cypress.
  • Writing test cases from the ground up in JavaScript.
  • Experience with API validation using tools such as: Postman, Rest Assured, Swagger, etc.
  • Experience working with development teams to help uncover, track, and resolve software issues.
  • Understanding of all aspects of the Testing Pyramid - Unit Testing, Component Testing, Integration Testing, Functional Testing and Manual Testing.
  • Experience working in a high transaction, high security environment where SOC2, ISO27001 compliance is required.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, git workflow, etc.; ideally in Azure DevOps.
  • Great problem solving and debugging skills with the ability to isolate an issue to it's root cause and document in a way that is easier for others to understand and reproduce.
  • Ability to query a relational database.
  • Experience championing innovative QA ideas.
