QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

Summary:

At GSTV, we take pride in our commitment to quality and are dedicated to continuously enhancing our media platform to meet the highest standards. As part of this mission, we're expanding our quality assurance team and looking for a talented QA Engineer to join our team.

As a QA Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in helping us ensure the quality and reliability of our software products. Your primary focus will be on backend integration testing, data flow validation, infrastructure testing and automated regression testing. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, architects, and end users to support our advertising, retail, and hardware partners. Your primary focus will be on creating and executing test plans, identifying and documenting defects, and ensuring that our software meets the highest standards of functionality, performance, and security.

We're passionate about creating high-quality, impactful products that exceed expectations, and we need someone who shares that passion. That's why you'll collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that our software is thoroughly tested and ready for production. If you're up for the challenge and ready to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!

Your success will be measured by:

  • Your ability to design and execute comprehensive test plans and cases, ensuring software quality across all stages of development.
  • Your contributions to identifying, and documenting software defects.
  • Your ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality software.
  • Your ability to stay up to date with the latest testing tools, methodologies, and technologies, and to apply that knowledge to your work.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and executing manual and automated tests for complex backend software applications.
  • A deep understanding of quality assurance best practices, with a strong focus on delivering reliable and secure software.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • A passion for ensuring software excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Technologies We Use:

  • Testing Tools: Postman, TestRail
  • CI/CD: Jenkins
  • Automation: Cypress, JavaScript-based frameworks
  • Cloud Services: AWS

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop quality assurance parameters, test cases, and test scenarios using business requirements, demonstrations, or wireframes.
  • Document and execute test cases and scenarios created by you or other team members to validate business rules and requirements.
  • Create and maintain the test data needed to support testing.
  • Partner with engineers or other team members to identify, clearly document, and resolve issues found during testing and by users.
  • Provide an accurate status of your progress during the daily standups - including blockers and updated timelines.
  • Develop technical tasks from requirements during sprint planning - including setting deadlines and identifying dependencies.
  • Help score stories by asking probing questions during backlog grooming sessions.
  • Demonstrate new functionality and capabilities to product managers and/or users.
  • Participate during retrospective processes by providing critical analysis of how the team can improve.
  • Escalate blockers or issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Contribute to and further evolve team standards and procedures for measuring quality and readiness.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

You are

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to drill down into tactical considerations.
  • Able to act autonomously while following team philosophy and guidelines.
  • Resourceful and can find solutions even when they are not obvious – you strive to find answers independently but know when it is time to ask for help, who to ask, and what to ask.
  • Able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining organized.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change because priorities will adjust based on resources and business needs.
  • Capable of establishing your own timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable balancing proactive and reactive strategy and execution.
  • A team player with a proven ability to foster and manage positive working relationships in a matrixed environment – including product managers, engineers, and quality assurance engineers.
  • Business and outcome focused with a bias towards action.

You have, ideally

  • Well-developed listening skills.
  • Effective and impactful oral, written, and presentation communication skills to both technical and business audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • A clear philosophy around quality assurance and testing – and more importantly you know how to apply that to ensure quality at GSTV.

Education and/or Experience:

BA/BS degree from a leading U.S. or International University in related field, as well as 3+ years of advertising sales experience as a QA Engineer supporting an Agile development team. Additional experience needed includes a solid understanding of QA best practices, knowledge of Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum, as well as familiarity with database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and ORMs. Experience testing highly scalable backend systems in AWS is a plus.

Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at GSTV's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
