OVERVIEW

The QA Lead is responsible for leading their team and for successful product launches. This involves resolving conflicts between individual team members or between different teams, mentoring and training, and boosting team morale during both stressful and slow times on the job. Before a product is released to the public, it goes through extensive quality assurance testing. The QA Lead is also responsible for organizing and managing that testing.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Review testing strategies to ensure products being released are up to industry and company standards
  • Execute testing plans, including individual testing phases, and ensure the team meets deadlines set forth in those plans 
  • Evaluate the team throughout the life of a project to identify areas for improvement
  • Identify risks and creates solutions to mitigate those risks
  • Hold regular team meetings as testing phases are completed to identify new challenges and create new mitigation plans in real time
  • Improve the current processes to make them more efficient
  • Communicate new challenges and suggest solutions to necessary teams involved in the project, including upper management, engineers, and marketing departments
  • Request feedback from upper management and implement suggested changes efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience within a food manufacturing environment is required
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead the work of other employees, assign duties, and manage workflow/production for a shift or in the absence of the Department Manager
  • Ability to work routine and monotonous processes 
  • Must have a strong understanding of English, bilingual (Spanish) speaking skills a plus

Experience / Education

  • Experience applying and enforcing routine Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in a chilled food environment is essential
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/WORK CONDITIONS

Working Conditions: Work is primarily conducted in the plant. This position may require night and/or weekend work.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of varying weather conditions, trash, waste, chemicals and other materials. The noise level in the work environment and facility can be loud. The employee must be able to adapt to working in an environment that is chilled and that surfaces may be slippery. 

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 40lbs; pull/push up to 60 lbs, grasp small products and identify very small variations in the product.  Sight is required for observing work and production.  May be exposed to active machinery and moving equipment, food particles and trash. May be required to use a forklift or other machinery.
