Quality Engineering Intern

Job Summary 

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineering Intern with education in engineering. In this role, you will contribute to the development of work processes and procedures for an FHR demonstration project. The Quality Intern will work in close supervision with the Quality Innovation Team and company consultants in the identification, prioritization, and development of processes and procedures for activities including site characterization, design, and testing.  Depending on location, the intern may also support onsite activities as assigned.

Responsibilities 

• Consult with Kairos Power teammates to identify and prioritize key work processes
• Prepare draft process maps and procedures
• Support evaluation of Kairos Power’s suppliers
• Support quality assurance of experimental data collection
• Interface with subject matter experts and company consultants as needed to develop and complete assignments
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

• Engineering student who has completed at least 2 years toward completion of a bachelor’s degree. Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students are encouraged to apply
• Collaborative Team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation
• Experience with engineering assessments, work processes, or nuclear quality or licensing
• Experience with site characterization activities such as hydrology, geology, meteorology
• Experience with writing and coordinating technical content for technical reports
• Proven team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation
• Ability to work with highly collaborative team
• Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
• Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
• Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

Physical Conditions 

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts and the like
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another

The hourly range for this position is $28 to $30 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters.
