Quality Lab Manager

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Quality Lab Manager to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries.  The preferred candidate will be a highly organized and level-headed laboratory manager to ensure that all lab operations run smoothly. This will be accomplished through scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, and training lab assistants. To be successful as a laboratory manager you must be able to multitask and plan.

Job Duties:

• Scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining the health and safety protocols.
• Managing the disposal of samples/ Materials.
• Training personnel to lab procedures / work instructions. Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks.
• Handling security documents.
• Maintaining specialized software.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations improvements.
• Regularly monitor the Laboratory processes and equipment to assure quality operations.
• Provides statistical information for quality improvement by identifying testing methods and sampling techniques.
• Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of measuring techniques.
• Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Utilize proven employee management solutions to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure the lab establishes and maintains a calibration of testing equipment that affect quality results.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in science or a related technical discipline.
• 5 -7+ years of progressively more responsible lab experience.
• Effective data trending, document control, and technical bench skills.
• Structured problem solving and analytical skills including strong technical skills in statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Mechanical aptitude (i.e., intuitive understanding of mechanical processes).
• Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must be able to maintain a constructive working relationship with all staff, vendors, and co-workers.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g. TS 16949, ISO9001, IATF 16949), expertise in automotive standards desirable.

Salary Range: $89,000 – $172,000 /year
