Maesa is currently seeking a Manager of Quality who will report to the Director, Quality. This position will be responsible for specific private-label and Maesa-owned brands Quality Assurance operations for Maesa New York-led projects and manage day to day quality issues associated with raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods. Additional responsibilities include facilitating improvement initiatives to improve supply reliability and manage overall supplier performance.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for collaborating with internal functions and partnering with suppliers to proactively address quality risks and facilitate execution of initiative to improve supplier processes, capabilities, and execution of overall quality management system.
- Consolidate and organize supplier quality performance metrics, associated data, and messaging for use during supplier performance review meetings.
- Regularly review supplier performance with the Director, Quality and Supply Chain counterparts, identify and mitigate key quality issues and develop action plans.
- Hold periodic performance reviews with key suppliers and implement quality improvement plans with developed quantifiable targets
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and partner with suppliers to manage day to day quality issues
- Liaise with Quality staff at the manufacturing sites for supplier related quality issues and partner with supplier to resolve issues and ensure corrective actions are identified and implemented to prevent reoccurrence
- Conduct investigations and document findings for quality inquiries and product issues raised by clients and customers of Maesa.
- Provide support and assist with the management of both supplier and Maesa initiated change controls, deviations, and immediate/long term corrective/preventative actions
- Work Director of Quality to Audit suppliers, review audit results, provide input for CAPA plans & follow up to verify CAPA completion and verify its effectiveness as needed
- Ensure compliance to quality agreement/key QMS requirements
- For new product launches, work with Project Management, R&D, PD, Regulatory, and Packaging to ensure complete understanding of requirements and critical features for new products by suppliers
- Direct and lead communication of quality problems and resolutions between contract manufacturers, packaging, sales, R&D, and other internal teams regarding out-of-specifications or poor quality. Actively pursue timeline response, determine root cause, and identify and implement preventative actions. Share โbest practicesโ across Operations team.
- Assist in leading monthly quality meetings with cross-functional partners in coordination with Customer Service.
- Manage project-specific product release programs for incoming, in-process and finished good materials.
- Requires <50% travel.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in the sciences or engineering (or equivalent work experience).ย
- New York City-based, 50% in office requirement.
- Minimum of 3 years of prior experience working in a manufacturing site or supporting the development and introduction of new products within the Cosmetic, Pharmaceutical and or Food & Beverage industry
- Prior experience with quality management systems, project management, supplier management and/or continuous improvement initiatives preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down issues to basic form that can be easily understood by all levels of management both verbally and in written format.
- Deviation management (source containment, root cause analysis, CAPA, etc.)
- Ability to partner cross functionally and integrate feedback during development and implementation of quality systems
- Ability to make decisions of moderate complexity independently and escalate complex decisions as needed.
- Solution oriented mindset to resolve day to day issues
- Ability to work independently to meet objectives and
- Experience in developing and implementing SOPโs, Test Methods, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, skills.
