OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure quality products are shipped and produced in a safe, cost effective and timely manner by leading and supervising the analytical and ISO related activities of the Quality Control group under the direction of the Plant Manager.  The person will ensure that all QA/QC and Safety Regulatory practices and procedures are followed.

This position is 1st shift, M - F

As a Quality Manager, primary responsibilities include: 

  • Supports the operations and business development by efficiently planning and directing the activities of the Quality Control laboratory.
  • Supervises QC Chemists, Senior Chemist and Administrative Assistant. Guides employee performance and development through the use of daily communication and annual performance evaluations.
  • Direct daily laboratory activities and priorities to support timely and accurate results for production and shipment of products.
  • Aids in resolving laboratory issues that may impact production or shipment of products and communicates any current or potential concerns which could impact timely and accurate results of incoming, outgoing and in process analyses s performed by QC lab staff.
  • Continuously evaluates, recommends and implements improvements to existing analytical methods, processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate RIKs and IRF approvals.
  • Perform quality approvals for NPMs.
  • Prepares the lab operating and capital expense budges and manages expenses at or below budgeted levels.
  • Assist in customer product complaints and returns of west side products through investigation and analysis, and process laboratory portion of Complaint/Return paperwork in conjunction with SIMS.  Assure timely response of material acceptance/rejection decisions.  Suggest corrective action.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshoots plant production.
  • Monitors and maintains laboratory safety, health and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains critical records.
  • Facilitate corrective actions responses resulting from external quality audits (customer, ISO), internal audits (QC/QC, ISO), and customer complaints.
  • Acts as Chemical Hygiene Officer, as designated in the Chemical Hygiene Plan, QC002AF.
  • Upholds Hydrite’s Standard of Excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain quality facilities and provide quality products and services to internal and external customers.
  • Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.
  • Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process training activities as required.
  • Serve as a Medical Responder for the Branch.
  • Review changes/additions with your supervisor.  Must be RCRA compliant.
  • Regular attendance is essential.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to Plant Manager. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent. 
  • Must have strong supervisory skills.
  • Must possess strong people, organizational skills, be self-motivated and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Strong laboratory analytical practices and instrument/method trouble shooting skills preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word and Excel required.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.

PHYSIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to sit, stand or walk for up to 10 hours during a workday.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 20 feet on occasion.
  • Able to perform manual dexterity tasks.
  • Occasional turning, twisting, stooping, bending and reaching.
  • Due to safety concerns, the wearing of contact lenses is prohibited.
  • Ability to wear a respirator for up to 4 hours a day. Please refer to the SOP for facial hair guidelines.
