Job Summary
The Quality Manager - Quality Control will oversee and ensure the highest standards of product quality and safety at Black Rifle Coffee Company. This role involves leading the quality assurance and control processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining a rigorous system of checks and balances throughout the production process. The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in training staff, developing SOPs, and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant quality.
Job Details
Responsibilities:
Shipping/Receiving Quality Checks:

Oversee and conduct quality inspections of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with suppliers and logistics teams to resolve quality issues promptly and effectively.
Line Quality Verification:

Implement and manage real-time quality verification processes on the production line to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications.

Identify and address deviations immediately to minimize waste and rework.
Finished Product Quality Checks:

Perform thorough inspections of finished products to verify compliance with quality standards, ensuring that only top-quality products are released to the market.

Document and report any non-conformities and oversee corrective actions.
Internal/GMP Audits:

Lead internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal quality standards.

Develop and implement corrective action plans to address any identified deficiencies.
QA Equipment Maintenance/Calibration:

Oversee the maintenance and calibration of all QA equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular checks and repairs as needed.
Hold & Release Process:

Manage the Hold & Release process for products that do not meet quality standards, ensuring that no substandard products are distributed.

Work closely with the production and quality teams to resolve issues and authorize the release of held products when appropriate.

Food Safety Program Management:

Environmental Monitoring: Implement and manage environmental monitoring programs to ensure that the production environment meets cleanliness and safety standards.

Pest Control: Oversee the pest control program to ensure a pest-free environment in all production and storage areas.

Training & SOP Development:

Develop and deliver training programs for staff on quality control procedures, GMP, and other relevant topics.

Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure they reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.
KPI Management:

Set, monitor, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant quality, such as defect rates, audit scores, and customer complaints.

Provide regular reports to senior management on KPI performance and areas for improvement.
Education and Skill Requirements:
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within the food and beverage industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or related field preferred.

In-depth knowledge of GFSI standards and food safety regulations.

Proven experience in leading 3rd party audits and managing regulatory compliance.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Proficiency in document management systems and quality management software.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Physical Requirements
This is a full-time, on-site position and may require long hours and may require weekend and nights work per events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard; reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.

Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

Light to moderate lifting may be required

Ability to uphold the stress of traveling (potentially will travel, not regular occurrence/ 5%)

Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
