Quality Planning & Methods Specialist.
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Serves as the liaison between Planning departments regarding dimensional quality for the industrialization of new products into existing or new product lines. Steers quality related topics during launching new products and delivering to the series status. The day-to-day responsibilities for this role consist of data and product analysis, process hands-on adjustments, coordination of metrology and understanding of reports, communicate and work with a team. The top three skills needed for this position are methodical problem solving, teamwork & communicating with stakeholder, product and process understanding. A must have for this position is abstract product thinking. A nice to have would be automotive experience.
100% Onsite requirement for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports pre-series builds of new models to help identify, analyze, and drive resolution of new model specific problems (dimensional).
- Analyzes the scope of new designs by means of a systematic methods approach, with the goal being a repeatable, robust manufacturing process.
- Develops solutions to highly complex or unusual problems, which require regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
- Adheres to and administers business policies, budgets, procedures, practices and/or review of major projects and assignments.
- Supports procurement, process engineering, and design engineering in the problem-solving process with external suppliers (i.e. presents data or develops possible solutions, evaluates solutions).
- Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activities and plans.
- Participates in the developments of projects for underbody parts, including Assembly processes and FMK chain evaluations.
- Delivers repeatable, long-term process and product quality solutions for new or changed products.
- Performs other duties as assigned by operations supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred) or the equivalent of 4 years experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
- 3 years of process or product engineering.
- 3years experience using dimensional quality, process, and product planning skills (preferably automotive Body in White).
PREFFERED SKILLS:
- Advanced = organizational skills
- Advanced = knowledge in Team and Communication Skills
- Advanced = knowledge using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Advanced = knowledge of the Painted Body process chain
- Intermediate = knowledge of the joining methods for various materials and steel
- Intermediate = knowledge of tolerancing and stack-up in sub assemblies into assemblies
- Basic = knowledge in CATIA V5 and experience with data environment of BMW
- Basic = knowledge in MicroStation
- Basic = knowledge in Process Designer/ Process Simulate
- Basic = conflict management skills
- Basic = German language skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Location: Greer, South Carolina
- Schedule: 8am-5pm (Mon-Fri)
- Assignment Start: ASAP
