Quality Technician
Job Description
The Quality Technician’s primary focus will be supporting Supplier Quality Engineering by verifying that supplier documentation submitted in support of hardware to be delivered meets requirements and gets properly filed for retention to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products that meet our customer’s expectations.
This role reports to the Quality Manager with daily work supervised by a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE).Responsibilities:
- Review printed metal part build records and material certifications to ensure they meet Ursa Major specifications. File under the appropriate part number and build serial number folders.
- Review submitted supplier certifications as required (material and/or special process) for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform inspection transactions in Ursa Major’s ERP system for materials qualified for source acceptance after review of supplied documentation. The review includes verifying dimensional data (including point cloud files) meet requirements and that all material and processing certifications are accurate and complete.
- Quickly and thoroughly process and communicate with suppliers the status of concession requests and deviation permits as required. Keep SQE and buyers informed of progress.
- Author Discrepancy Reports (DR) as needed.
- Assist in coordinating Return to Vendor (RTV) dispositions for material rejected by inspection. This includes ERP transactions, gaining RMA, and preparing materials for safe return shipment while communicating with suppliers to ensure they understand the issues and drive resolution in support of Supplier Quality Engineering.
- May perform dimensional, electrical, and/or visual inspections as appropriate for procured items.
- May prepare inspection plans and write procedures or work instructions.
- May perform supplier performance analysis and prepare basic statistical charts and reports.
- Under the direction of the SQE, may issue nonconformance reports and review corrective action responses.
- May assist in calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment and update the calibration recall tracking system.
- If qualified, may perform supplier process or quality system audits and/or internal audits of the Ursa Major Quality Management System (QMS).
Required Qualifications:
- High School degree (technical school or technical Associates degree preferred)
- 5+ years of quality assurance experience in a technical manufacturing or aerospace environment
- Highly skilled in using computer file systems and ERP software
- Understanding of engineering models and drawings (basic GD&T knowledge)
- Skilled in using standard inspection tools, methods, and reporting requirements
- Experience in a moderate volume and mixed manufacturing environment
Desired Experience:
- Technical writing skills
- Experienced with AS9100 requirements, including AS9102 First Article Inspection Reporting
- ASQ CQT or CQPA Certification is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field is a plus

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $70,000 - $100,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
