The Quantitative Capital Analyst is primarily responsible for assisting the Capital Planning team in developing and maintaining the capital planning and stress testing models for the bank, working directly with the Bank's Treasurer and Senior Team Members.

Job Description

The Quantitative Capital Analyst is primarily responsible for assisting the Capital Planning team in developing and maintaining the capital planning and stress testing models for the bank, working directly with the Bank's Treasurer and Senior Team Members. This position requires a basic understanding of finance and accounting principles and a solid understanding of coding logic and statistical modeling in R or Python. This position develops and runs multiple capital planning and stress testing models using a variety of statistical techniques and assesses their implications on the organization's capital adequacy.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will develop improvements to the Economic Capital model and develop Financial and Machine Learning models for the Internal Capital Adequacy Stress Test.
  • You will assist in the automation of various tasks within Capital Markets, and assist in the development of various applications within Capital Markets with direction from the direct manager and/or senior team members.
  • You will work independently to develop financial and statistical models while gathering feedback on modeling efforts from the Bank's Strategic Planning and Management Accounting functions with direction from the direct manager and/or senior team members.
  • You will collaborate with Management and Senior Team Members to develop Power BI dashboards, or other visualizations to support capital stress testing, ex: Economic Capital Model Output, Internal Capital Adequacy Stress Test Model Output, and Capital Research / Peer Analysis Projects.
  • You will need to be able to work with minimal guidance to maintain documentation on the Economic Capital Model, Internal Capital Adequacy Stress Test Model, and others as necessary.
  • You will perform peer analysis of financial metrics and/or survey results, read and summarize capital regulations, research and follow industry trends to build knowledge base, develop recommendations that influence capital stress testing content and analytical techniques, anticipate and identify issues inhibiting the attainment of assigned goals, and develop and implement corrective actions.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree in quantitative disciple such as Finance, Computer Science, MIS, or Accounting or related field of study and 1+ years of directly related experience in Programming or financial analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree in MIS, Math, Statistics, Financial or Econometric Modeling, Business Analytics, or other applied quantitative discipline is preferred. Working towards CFA or FRM designation preferred.

  • Experience programming or modeling in modelling such as R, SAS, Python or comparable language is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand internal and external programming documentation
  • Exposure to financial statement analysis or bank capital planning and stress testing is a plus.
  • Experience utilizing data visualization and report building/automation
  • Ability to design and implement complex simulation models
  • Experience with data modeling and systems design is preferred
  • Ability to aggregate and synthesize complex data from multiple sources
  • Understanding of Financial Accounting and Reporting
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Solid conceptual thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issue proactively
