Job Description

Reimagine the infrastructure of cancer care within a community that values integrity, inspires growth, and is uniquely positioned to create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem.
We're looking for a Quantitative Scientist to help us accomplish our mission to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?
What You'll Do
In this role, you will work as a member of the Quantitative Sciences (QS) team to answer some of the most important questions in cancer using Flatiron's unique, large real-world dataset. Specifically, you will co-lead Flatiron's Knowledge Management initiative, responsible for developing and codifying Flatiron expertise and best practices into effective tools and online documentation leveraged by our external customers and internal users. To that end, you will:
  • Become a subject matter expert on our data and its capabilities
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team (e.g., solutions managers, oncologists, clinical data specialists, software engineers) to develop technical resources for internal and external data users to drive adoption of FH methodology best practices
  • Develop and/or validate best practices for working with real-world clinical data by developing analysis plans, applying appropriate statistical methods, and/or creating compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to a wide range of end users
  • Facilitate development and maintenance of Flatiron's methods-focused R packages
  • Participate in client data trainings and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support delivery of appropriate data solutions to meet client needs
  • Actively contribute to Flatiron's vision for an industry-leading customer experience with Flatiron data products, platforms, and solutions
  • Continue to develop a deeper understanding of real-world data and related methodologies used to generate real-world evidence

Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition, you're an analytical thinker and effective communicator with experience or interest in analyzing real-world data (e.g., healthcare claims or electronic health records). You are excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.
  • You hold a Master's degree with 4 years of industry experience or PhD (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, epidemiology, applied statistics, or health economics
  • You possess a strong empathy for the challenges of data users and desire to be in frequent conversation with life sciences/biopharma and academic researchers
  • You are excited about designing effective technical documentation to teach data users in a scalable manner
  • You are an effective oral and written communicator with experience developing complex, technical content for consumption by diverse audiences
  • You love working with data and have experience exploring it with a critical and thoughtful eye
  • You are proficient in R (or another programming language and are committed to becoming an expert in R)
  • You are self-motivated, flexible, proactive and enjoy coming up with elegant and innovative solutions to challenging problems
  • You know how to balance attention to detail with execution against tight timelines
  • You are passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology

Extra credit
  • You have oncology experience
  • You have consulting experience within the healthcare domain (ideally related to application of real-world evidence within the drug development lifecycle)
  • You have experience as a consultant in a similar field or teaching experience in an academic setting (e.g. adjunct faculty at a university)

Where you'll work
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and 2-3 office days set by you and your team with the option of being Flex or Office. For more information on our approach to hybrid work as well as our work type options, please visit the how we work website.
