Job Title: Quantitative Scientist, Data Insights

Job Intro:

As Verana Health reinvents how research happens with data and technology in the healthcare space, we are growing our Quantitative Sciences team to solve complex real-world problems across multiple therapeutic areas, including urology, ophthalmology, and neurology.  We are looking for a Quantitative Scientist on the Data Insights team within the Quantitative Sciences department. The team works closely with clinical data derived from electronic health records in support of both internally driven research areas as well as commercial projects. As part of the Data Insights mandate, the three key focus areas consist of: (1) data usability - identify and recommend ways to increase velocity of insight generation; (2) data enrichment - develop algorithms that extract key metrics; and (3) data discovery - streamline exploration of the data, including identification of key tools or creation of visualizations.

This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of the Data Insights group. Built on the values of continuous learning, cross-functional collaboration, and rigorous scientific research, the Quantitative Sciences team strives to improve patient care by innovating at the intersection of real world data, clinical context, and methodology with our partners to ensure all available data is being used to in the most efficient, data-driven way possible.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be a hands-on individual contributor on the Quantitative Sciences team with a solid grasp of relevant technical approaches, especially within data science, and their respective assumptions.
• Support the Data Insights team’s three key pillars of data usability, data enrichment, and data discovery.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams (e.g., Commercial, Product, Medical, Engineering/Technology, etc.) to translate data questions into detailed data analytics requirements for internal and external projects.

Basic Requirements:

• Master’s or doctorate in a quantitative discipline (e.g., biostatistics, data science, computer science, epidemiology, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with claims data and analytical methodologies.
• Proficiency with one or more health data analytics tools, especially SQL, Python, PySpark, R.
• Familiarity with clinical datasets and coding systems such as ICD, CPT, and RxNorm.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication skills and able to deliver internal/external presentations.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with high attention to detail.
• Experience performing analysis within a HIPAA compliant environment is preferred.
