Infleqtion (ColdquantaLabs/Super.tech) is a global quantum technology company solving the world's most challenging problems. The company harnesses quantum mechanics to build and integrate quantum computers, sensors, and networks. From fundamental physics to leading edge commercial products, Infleqtion enables "quantum everywhere" through our ecosystem of devices and platforms. We are currently searching for a Quantum Engineer.

Location

Infleqtion has 6 office locations, operating out of Austin, TX; Boulder/Louisville, CO; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; London, UK; and Melbourne, AU. This position is a full-time, hybrid position which will be located in our Boulder or Louisville, Colorado offices.

Position Summary

The newly hired This role will collaborate on current research projects and support development of new concepts and directions within the quantum matter program(s) at Infleqtion. The quantum engineer's role will include a combination of self-directed and collaborative efforts with a team of fellow physicists, engineers, technicians, and business personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on operation of multiple configurations of quantum matter generation and manipulation hardware in a laboratory or similar environment
  • Develop new quantum matter capabilities: mature and operate hardware to conduct research to demonstrate novel applications
  • Applications engineering: transition ultracold atom experiments into repeatable, modular engineering tools of product quality
  • Support strategic planning across projects by providing technical assessments of risk, dependencies, and scope of technical efforts Development and documentation of procedures related to maintenance and operations

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering physics, physics, or similar
  • Experience integrating complex hardware and software systems
  • Hands-on experience with laser systems and optics, including diode lasers, optical cavities, acousto-optic devices, tapered amplifiers, optical fibers, waveplates, mirrors, lenses, and beamsplitters
  • Experience with python (or similar) scripting and programming
  • Proficient in MS Office and Windows/Linux operating systems
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize initiatives, and take ownership in resolving issues with urgency
  • Startup mentality: smart, self-starter, proactive, and a can-do cross-functional team player
  • Professional-level communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
  • Self-motivated, energetic individuals with strong problem-solving and technical skills; Takes ownership or role and resolving issues with vigor
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly; Passion for solving complex problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and (potentially) internationally up to 10%
  • This role requires that you do not require sponsorship or a work visa transfer
  • This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Please note that any offer for employment may be conditioned on authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export control laws and regulations without sponsorship for an export license.
