Job Responsibilities: What you will do
Examine rail services; identify tracking and reporting criteria and devices to ensure timely identification/reporting of rail service disruptions and inconsistencies. Identify and provide practical solutions; work with designated personnel and railways to implement solutions in a timely, effective manner. Coordinate with railways to maintain strong, consistent levels of service for all Swift Intermodal customers; serve as the primary point of contact to designated railways for Swift intermodal.
- Develop and implement procedures to monitor and review rail services; assist in ensuring railways are providing necessary services to Swift Intermodal customers as identified by customer requirements. Generate reports and provide Swift Intermodal leadership with information pertaining to disruptions and inconsistencies.
- Understand Swift Intermodal network to ensure Swift Intermodal is capitalizing on synergies and avoiding potential service issues. Facilitate timely and effective problem resolution to minimize negative impact to customers and negative financial impact to Swift.
- Analyze existing rail service in order to identify disruptions and inconsistencies; provide process recommendations and overall problem resolution to improve service to customers.
- Review existing rail communication processes/procedures in order to identify communication gaps and inaccurate communication; work with appropriate rail personnel, Swift Intermodal leadership and customers to ensure inaccurate communication is corrected and prevented and gaps are eliminated.
- Work with leadership to develop and implement procedures to improve the accuracy and efficiency of communication between Swift Intermodal, designated railways and customers; identify and recommend improvement strategies to facilitate Best In Class service.
- Monitor daily chassis balance/imbalance within the Swift network and work with designated personnel, chassis providers and railways to resolve any imbalances in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with rail personnel; serve as the primary point of contact for designated railways as directed by Swift Intermodal leadership.
- Be intimately familiar with rail networks and services provided as it correlates to the Swift Intermodal network; be familiar with the Swift Intermodal customer freight mix to promptly identify and communicate potential rail service issues to customers.
- Provide training and support to designated personnel regarding the railway service.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications: What you need to bring
- Three (3) years rail experience or combination of rail, intermodal and business operations/transportation experience required; six months to a year (6 mos-1 yr) analytical experience required. Completion of Bachelor's degree may be considered for substitution of required experience. Leadership experience preferred.
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with employees and rail personnel at all levels and within various business functions; strong interpersonal skills with ability to maintain positive working relationships with railways and Swift Intermodal and designated personnel; strong analytical skills; strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Office suite products-Word, Excel and Power Point, with emphasis on the ability to develop and use spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel; ability to learn and understand various operational systems used by Swift Intermodal and web based programs used by railways; ability to identify and implement process improvements that will increase efficiency; self-starter; organized and detail oriented; able to work under time constraints and flexible schedule to complete tasks as required by Swift Intermodal.
