AECOM is seeking a Rail Track Engineer to be based in Omaha, NE.

Job Responsibilities

The successful applicant will assume a design role in an established Freight and Transit Rail Design Department. The successful applicant will lead design tasks on various rail projects including geometric and grading design. The applicant will be required to coordinate with multiple design disciplines and other production staff members to support efficient project development.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering
  • EIT or PE
  • The desired applicant will have 2-5 years of experience with conceptual and detailed design of civil transportation projects.
  • Experience in freight and passenger railroad and rail transit is preferred including alignment design, cross sections, trackwork component design and site grading.
  • Candidate should have strong writing and communications skills and abilities to be part of a highly motivated design team and work with external and internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Other skills desired include extensive drafting experience including experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with InRoads and/or Civil 3D, developing special provisions, and cost estimates for the civil and freight projects is strongly desired as well as experience working with Class 1 and short line railways and their customers.
