RAN Engineer
Job Description
Skylo Technologies is hiring a Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to join our Network Operations team to implement Skylo's vision of building out a carrier-grade Satellite IOT network. This role will be highly cross-functional, working across the network engineering, wireless systems, and network operations teams. Location: Palo Alto, CA
Salary range: The typical salary range for this position is $135,000 to $165,000 per year and is commensurate with experience relative to the position
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to deploy, test, and operate Skylo’s 3GPP satellite radio access network and its associated interfacesÂ
- Work with satellite operator partners to perform routine beam calibration and bring up
- Collect monitoring and analytics data to manage the performance of the network
- Ensure base stations are provided with live satellite ephemeris data through working with satellite partners
- Perform radio access network parameter tuning including output power, frequency correction, detection thresholds, timers, and other 3GPP parameters to suite the network performance requirements
- Provide L3 support to Skylo’s 24x7 network operations center to troubleshoot issues in a regimented and timely manner
- Support network partner operations center integrations and operations
- Conduct routine network performance audits and reports
- Provide detailed and quantifiable feedback to network engineering and customer service teams to enhance network performance and quality
- Perform network acceptance validation testing
- Hold vendors accountable to SLAs on network performance and service quality
- Provide subject matter knowledge in the areas of licensed LTE/5G macro/small cell solutions, telecom-services, security, and virtualization solutions.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent technical discipline is preferred
- 5+ years of related network systems engineer experienceÂ
- Strong knowledge in NB-IoT and 5G-NR air interface technologies and network architecture specifically focused on Radio Access Network
- Experience with 3GPP-related standards and ongoing releasesIn-depth understanding of RLC protocol is preferred.
- Working experience in Lab testing and IOT testing is preferred
- Experience with test tools including protocol analyzers, Wireshark, Channel Simulators, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.
- Hands on experience with wireless system debugging, wireless protocol analysis tools, Linux systems, Cloud (GCP preferred), Virtualization and Containerization technologies (Kubernetes preferred)
- Highly collaborative, with excellent communication skills
