The Rapids Warehousing Operations Manager is responsible for improving overall organizational performance. This includes monitoring productivity, effectiveness and quality across Helena Industries (HI) and Rapids Warehousing (RW) operations. The manager is responsible for implementing effective tools to measure performance and developing KPIs in order to optimize warehouse operations. This includes examining every corner of infrastructure, workflows and processes to identify areas of improvement, correct inefficiencies and standardize processes across all sites.

This position is with the manufacturing group which operates under the name Helena Industries or HI. HI's corporate offices are located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis. HI has provided formulations and packaging solutions for companies around the world for over 60 years. As one of the largest chemical toll manufacturer's and service companies in the U.S., we set the bar for the industry in ensuring the safety of our clients' technology, brand and assets with integrity and pride.

Rapids Warehousing is part of the HI family and is a commercial storage, logistics and supply chain partner that operates out of central offices located in Cordele, GA. The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like

  • Oversees the in-depth analysis of existing workflows.
  • Utilizes flowcharts and process maps to define existing processes and identifies areas needing improvement.
  • Engages and organizes subject matter experts and cross-functional groups to collect input, strategize, prioritize and work collaboratively toward achieving pre-determined goals.
  • Implements the tools required to collect and measure relevant data, identifies key performance indicators and produces a data-driven analysis of critical functions.
  • Focuses on standardization of processes across all warehousing.
  • Develops and implements scheduled audits to measure success.
  • Works with Warehouse Services Manager to seek out growth opportunities, assists with site selection and lays out plans to manage space utilization in the warehouses.
  • Participates in industry gatherings focused on Continuous Improvement and best practices to stay up-to-date on industry trends.
  • Develops research initiatives that study best practices and benchmarks against industry trends.
  • Introduces new business processes to the organization and produces documentation, tools and training to support adoption.
  • Ensures the business maintains safety first, high quality, customer-focused service delivery to stay compliant with ever-changing state and federal regulations and preserve transaction accuracy and efficiency.
  • Improves and organizes critical information to reduce time spent training new employees on systems.
  • Manages and mentors others at RW and HI locations.
  • Other duties as assigned by leader.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience is required.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading process improvement initiatives yielding quantifiable results is required.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Certification in Six Sigma is preferred.

  • Ability to lead and yield results from cross-functional groups.
  • Ability to facilitate change management initiatives and develop the resources needed for adoption.
  • Analysis skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to travel by various means up to 20% to visit and work with HI/Rapids site management team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Proficiency in Oracle in preferred.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.

The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
