Rate Publication Specialist

The Rate Specialist will be responsible for rating all lanes originating from their assigned region. Bids with loads originating from the Rate Specialist's region will be assigned to the Rate Specialist after a Rate Analyst assembles the bid for processing. The lanes will be rated using the following tools: pricing model, load count database and the quartile database. Origin ranks will be initially assigned by the Rate Specialist and subsequently reviewed with the region's director. Along with the rate department, the Rate Specialist will work with the Regional Director and Region Manager to determine lane commitments, origin capacity and regional pricing. The Rate Department is ultimately responsible for pricing.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Werner's business units and management to maintain & customize Werner's rating engine.
• Maintain clear concise communication with management to assist in the development/enhancement and maintenance of various systems to support rating.
• Manage and implement customer awards based on load execution with minimal errors to avoid direct impact on our financial reporting.
• Manage our customer rates in the customer's system to meet their business rules, via telephone, email and internal systems confirming proper and accurate pricing based on geographic region and division.
• Properly document all communication with key players that involve rate modification for record keeping.
• Effectively communicate with management when problem solving and researching rating errors that have any significant revenue impact with proper documentation in Werner Management System.
• Generate rate pages for Werner Enterprises to finalize publication.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
• Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Four to five years customer service experience preferred.
• Two to three years of transportation experience preferred.
• One to two years AS/400 experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skill; functions including but not limited to V-look ups, pivot tables, true/false statements, formulas and formatting. Strong typing skills - alphanumeric data entry (Minimum of 4,500kph)
• Strong communication and decision-making skills, reasoning and problem solving with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organization skills, with the ability to prioritize work load, work independently and in a team environment to achieve department goals.
• Knowledge of transportation industry and terminology usually gained through practical experience and on-the-job training.
• Knowledge of customer service policies and practices.
