The Position
R&D Finance Analytics/Insights Champion
At Roche, our Finance Centers of Excellence have led the way in breaking down silos, removing hierarchies, and working in new ways. The eCoE is focused on three areas delivering a high-level of financial expertise, innovative insights, and an entrepreneurial mindset that enables agility and flexibility for stakeholders. The eCoE is a talent engine for Finance through capability and network building.
There are three focus areas within eCoE:

In our ongoing reflection across the eCoE and FEP Network on how to evolve our setup, we have identified an opportunity to elevate our collective impact by creating an “Analytics & Insights Engine”. In this new global setup within the eCoE R&D OBC, you will have the opportunity to be part of this journey from the start and help shape it into an impactful piece of our overall R&D Finance architecture. Responsibilities:
- Drive jointly with the FEPs towards impactful analytics & insights enabling transparency on actuals, forecasting, trends and opportunities to articulate an impactful financial story.
- Work in strong partnerships and collaborate closely with R&D teams to make an impact in line with the global R&D business priorities.
- Own the implementation of scalable solutions and continuously identify opportunities to simplifying processes, leverage digital and leverage synergies with other teams (e.g. PPP, RSS).
- Deliver E2E Analytics & Insights in a “ONE TEAM” partnership across R&D Finance to ensure scalability of solutions while helping the group to evolve as a catalyst.
- Take a proactive approach in building the right analytics/insights by learning, reflecting and adjusting where vital in partnership with the FEPs.
- Identify the right balance between standardization to tailor analytics/insights solution to business needs and improve impact.
- As a member of the A&I Engine and R&D Finance at large, you demonstrate strong analytical skill, bring FP&A experience ideally in R&D and/or have a strong interest to learn R&D.
- You will bring a flexible working approach with an ability to adjust to where the highest impact can be found and to navigate through a global and dynamic environment. You are a self-starter and can flex beyond your immediate job scope which is particularly important given that this A&I Engine is novel and newly established.
- You are meticulous and comfortable working with large datasets. This, along with your distinct collaboration and influencing skills, will enable you to build trusted relationship with R&D FEPs and senior R&D Finance partners.
Who You Are
R&D Analytics/Insights Champion
- Bachelor in Finance, Business or a related field; Master/MBA is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in FP&A with a track record of strong delivery.Â
- Strong analytical skills, diligent and ability to handle large dataset.
- An effective collaborator and good communicator to influence and inspire change.
- Able to operate in global settings leading projects/outcomes.
- Tool mastery in Excel, etc.
- Ability to flex between attention to details and enterprise thinking.
- Ability to articulate and visualize a financial story in an impactful manner while summarizing complex data in a simple and convincing storyline.
- R&D experience, multi-national pharma experience and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) tool experience are highly preferred.
R&D Analytics/Insights Champion (next level)
- Bachelor in Finance, Business or a related field; Master/MBA is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 7+ years of experience in FP&A with a track record of delivering complex analytics with impact.
- Strong analytical skills, diligent and ability to handle large dataset.
- An effective collaborator with a proven track record of leadership, business partnering and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Able to operate in global settings leading projects/outcomes to evolve global processes and champion change management.
- Tool mastery in Excel, etc.
- Ability to flex between attention to details and enterprise thinking.
- Ability to articulate and visualize a financial story in an impactful manner while summarizing complex data in a simple and convincing storyline.
- Lead and mentor others.
- R&D experience, multi-national pharma experience and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) tool experience are highly preferred.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California state is $109,000 - $246,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
