Job Description
- Responsible for the real-time monitoring of surface and subsea BOPs; including but not limited to monitoring pressure trends, volume consumption, and all applicable functions of the BOP equipment.
- Maintain thorough records pertaining to hardware and maintenance on the stack.
- Track all pressure and function tests related to the BOP.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with the customer regarding changes in expected trends or observed anomalies while monitoring the BOP.
- Monitor and investigate messages from the alarm system dedicated to BOP stack.
- Analyze trends to identify potential areas of concern on the stack, predict failures before they occur, recommend ways to mitigate potential failures, and provide insight into root cause of equipment failures based on data.
- Keep detailed records of all trend anomalies and communications.
- Prepare in-house and customer reports as required.
- Strict adherence to all processes to ensure continued excellence in service delivery.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years subsea engineer experience for major drilling company required.
- Hands-on experience with major subsea BOP systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot based on real-time data trends. Strong analytical thinking skills required.
- Competent at correlating data and identifying root-cause through data trend interpretations.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on event escalation through proper channels.
- Understanding of Surface and Subsea BOP related CFRs, Std 53, API standards, RPs, etc.
- Familiarity with ROV/BOP interface.
- Well-versed in hydraulic and electrical BOP components; ability to read and decipher electro/hydraulic circuit diagrams.
- Familiarity with maintenance plans, failure reporting, and component tracking.
- Basic knowledge of technical calculations required for subsea operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 14/14 rotation schedule in Houston, TX to include nights/weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple BOP stacks (NOV, GE, Cameron / surface vs subsea).
- 7-10+ years of subsea engineer experience with multiple years as subsea supervisor or senior subsea.
- Experience in real-time data monitoring.
