Receptionist - Quantum Computing

IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are looking for a Receptionist. As a Receptionist, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
You will oversee the office environment, manage office tasks and communications, and assist upper management with key functions. Create a positive first impression when greeting our visitors, customers, and executives while working closely with our entire organization, setting the standards for professional and efficient daily operations of the office. You will also ensure that the front lobby area, conference rooms, and break rooms are maintained, organized and tidy. You will assist with workspace and conference room set-up, storage space management, vendor interactions, and end-user help-desk response. Bringing a positive “can do'' attitude to the role every day is of utmost importance.Â
Responsibilities:
- Receiving visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing, ensuring compliance to visitor policies, and announcing them appropriately
- Answering, screening, and forwarding incoming phone callsÂ
- Coordinate and facilitate tours for visitors and new hires
- Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
- Daily upkeep with work orders, office and workstation furniture, and conference rooms. This includes general office tasks such as document management, tidying, arranging workstations, and assisting the facilities/safety team with projects as needed
- Provide end-user helpdesk administrative support as required
- Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
- Order office supplies and keep inventory of stock itemsÂ
- Initiate purchase orders as required
- Assist in maintaining office security by following access and safety procedures
- Maintain, update, and review facility documents. Point person for general administrative tasks such as mailing, shipping, ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, and errands; lifting heavy boxes, files or paper when needed, which may be up to 40 lbs; and handling time-sensitive/confidential material.
You’d be a good fit with:
- 3-5 years of proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar role
- Professional attitude and attire
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision; must be able to work well both independently and with others
- Excellent organizational skills, problem solving skills and ability to efficiently multitask
- Attention to detail in maintaining logs, reporting documentation, and data entry
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel, executives, customers and external vendors in a positive manner
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing procedures, systems, and priorities
- Proficiency in Google Office, Microsoft Office Suite
You’d be a great fit with:
- Associate’s/College degree; BS/BA in Business Administration or relevant field
- Experience in customer supportÂ
- Experience in a High Tech, fast paced technical office environment
Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We have also recently announced our new manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle, Boston and Toronto metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don’t let this stop you from applying.
