Regional All-Source Analyst, China (Junior)

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished Regional All Source Analystwith experience characterizing, assessing, and forecasting Chinese political and military developments that enable Beijing's regional and global objectives and activities. This candidate will routinely provide defense planners and operators with timely and accurate characterizations of China's WMD programs, strategic weapons, advanced conventional delivery systems, and weapons-related S&T developments. This position generates recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other analytic documents. This person will collaborate with the Intelligence Community, Defense Department, national labs, and academia to address China-, East Asia-, and Pacific-related threat issues. As a regional all-source analyst, this position contributes to multi-functional analytic teams, maintains currency in understanding relevant regional trends and developments, and assists with course-of-action development to counter specific threats. The right candidate will also use and evaluate new methodologies and analytical tools that are under development to enhance analytic and planning support tailored to Combating WMD customers.

Required Qualifications:

• BS or BA degree or completion of formal military/intelligence community intelligence training and substantive all source intelligence assignments.
• 3+ years of experience with intelligence analysis, including employing multi-INT databases to develop analytic assessments and briefings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of China's military capabilities, organization, decision-making, and modernization, particularly related to WMD, delivery systems, proliferation and procurement.
• Practical understanding of how regional proliferation and procurement activities and networks contribute to the global WMD environment.
• Familiarity with nuclear, chemical, biological, and missile technologies and advances.
• Functional understanding of the East Asian and Pacific region's political, military, and economic environment.
• Experience serving as an intelligence analyst directly supporting Defense Intelligence Enterprise or Intelligence Community production.
• Proficiency utilizing network analysis and intelligence-related tools and databases (M3, TAC, TIDE, Analyst Notebook, Palantir, MIDB/NPW, etc).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Effectively communicates analyses to Defense/Military planners and operators.
• Ability to clearly express in writing all source analysis results, adversary capabilities characterizations, and threat assessments.
• Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or advanced degree in political science, international relations, China studies, or related field and 5+ years of tangible intelligence analysis experience
• Recent experience supporting CWMD and counterproliferation planning, exercises, and operations.
• Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets.
• Familiarity with DTRA and its support to INDOPACOM, SOCOM, TSOCs, and/or SOF components.
