Regional EHS Specialist
Job Description
The Regional Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Regional Specialist for the Industrial Technologies & Services, Americas (ITSA) Division is responsible for guiding and supporting the EHS efforts at the numerous Customer Centers, and its associated office, sales, and field service employees, located across North America. The Regional EHS Specialist will participate in strategy, procedure/programs and campaigns directed at moving towards continuous improvement in World Class Environmental, Safety and Health for the ITSA organization.
This is an individual contributor position, working remotely, with up to 60% travel. (On average 2 weeks/month, 2-3 days at a time.) Would be beneficial for selected candidate to be in Mountain or Pacific Time but not required.
The work activity for this position will include, but not limited to the following:
- Implement all aspects of Ingersoll Rand's EHS Management System, to include helping develop and implement programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures to identify, reduce, and/or eliminate risks and to align with Ingersoll Rand policies and procedures.
- Drive behavioral-based culture practices by closely working with site leader and employees to find and resolve risks.
- Provide support to sales and service locations. This includes, but not limited to:

- EHS program compliance (including Gensuite)
- Develop monthly EHS Certifications
- Facilitate monthly SS EHS meeting
- Facilitate monthly EHS Certification Training
- Incident and injury management
- Assist with accident reports and/or environmental requirements to regulatory agencies.
- Fleet/DOT compliance
- Cultural communications and best practice sharing.
- Customer site visits around NA to ensure EHS compliance.
- Conduct ride-along with NA employees to uncover risks and coach/mentor employees on safe driving practices.

- Support Program Managers and guide subcontractor qualification program including:

- Assist with site specific safety plans for jobsites
- Review site specific safety plans for subs
- Assist with JHA's as needed.
- Provide on-site safety evaluations and incident investigations as needed for critical tasks and key customers.

- Provide support to U.S. based teams for third party qualification programs to meet compliance requirements in ISN, Avetta, PICS, PCS, and other platforms.
- Collaborate with vendors (Safety Kleen, Pure Safety, Verona, Concentra, TK Group, DISA, ARE, CEIetc) to ensure support for customer centers and compliance with IR and regulatory requirements.
- Review and sign all waste profiles as they come due.
- Analyze systemic incident causes and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions. Evaluate employee concerns, Behavior Based Safety observations, first aids, near misses and recordable accidents to drive proactive programs to prevent future recordable accidents.
- Oversee workers' compensation program administration, including working with the insurance carrier and physicians to reduce employee lost time. Work with employees and management to support strong return to work programs.
- Develop and implement programs for pollution prevention/sustainability.
- Participate in cross-sector EHS compliance audits when required.
- Provide information, metrics and programs for customer-required contractor certifications and other requests.
- Assure full compliance with all Federal, State, and Municipal EHS regulations as well as Sector and Enterprise level EHS requirements.
- Percentage of Travel: 60%
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, concentration in industrial safety, safety sciences, safety engineering, environmental science/engineering or related degree preferred
- Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA and EPA regulations required
- Experience in leading service organizations.
- 7+ years of experience of EHS experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Highly communicative; Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Self-starter, capable of managing multiple tasks
- Demonstrated and effective leadership practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of the OSHA, EPA, MSHA and DOT regulations, experience in the interpretation of local and state environmental and safety and standards.
