Job Description

General Purpose:

Under the Management of the Director of Transportation, the Regional Transportation TMS Manager will be responsible for strategically managing a non-asset based Transportation Management System (TMS) including internal and third party assets. In addition, this role will leverage TMS knowledge to support the implementation of TMS packaged solutions, with emphasis on designing, implementing and supporting the supply chain processes and solutions.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Manage Transportation Management System (TMS) software including internal and third party assets
• Proposes schedules and negotiates freight rates with vendors
• Schedule pick-ups and delivery appointments with team
• Act to resolve issues which prevent the team from working effectively
• Understanding of overall supply chain market best practices, transportation trends, and the integration of systems
• Participating in client discussions and meetings, managing engagements including preparing concise, accurate documents and conducting with the occurrence of unanticipated issues
• Creating a positive environment by monitoring workloads of the team while meeting client expectations
• Analyses complex ideas and proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations
• Ability to use data and insights to come to conclusions and support decision making
• Train, coach and counsel team members to achieve performance objectives. Prepare regular performance appraisals and goal-setting with subordinates according to company goals. 
• Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field
• 5-7+ years of experience within similar role.
• Travel requirements up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of the daily operations and functions of a TMS software, third party logistics, DOT and FMSCA regulations
• Hazardous materials transportation knowledge
• Record of successful carrier relations and transportation management; demonstrated ability to manage and lead a transportation team
• Effective negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
• Previous supervisory experience
• Ability to manage/prioritize several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
