Overview:

This position develops an extraordinary Learning & Development (L&D) solution focused on Maintenance and Reliability (M&R). This role works as a focused extension of the Global L&D effort. This position owns developing and deploying training content required to close gaps related to M&R. Content gaps cover a wide range of technical and business skills, business sense, work processes, sophisticated reliability skills, user-fixer, and general understanding. Content will cover roles throughout the business and not be limited to technical communities. Closing gaps will improve reliability, improve safety, reduce downtime, lower costs, and increase capacity.

This position will develop curriculum based on community needs and administer it via a range of methods, one of which is the Alchemy platform. Position owns automating training schedules to ensure it occurs when new employees are onboarded, employees change roles and courses are scheduled on set frequencies. This role also owns improving the use of RCAs within the region, sharing takeaways across regions and driving gains encouraged in a learning organization (i.e. no repeats). It is critical that this role collaborate with a wide range of internal customers, coordinate work with the regional Learning & Development team and plan with counterparts in other regions. This role reports to the Regional Reliability Director.

Results:

  • Build, lead and maintain regional Tiger Teams focused on identifying and developing training content for M&R. Team results are a strategic plan for content development, high pace of creation, effective deployment and tracking of training effectiveness/benefits/compliance.
  • Identify and prioritize M&R training content needs across the business and develop strategy for creation and delivery. Resources can include internal and/or external resources, reliability consultants and purchasing ready-made content.
  • Build highly effective trainer network to administer training. This may be a combination of internal and external sources while developing novel communication channels to maintain high levels of interest and engagement.
  • Develop standardized training for advanced skills (predictive technologies and similar) with different levels of certification. Tie employee certification to documented hours using the skill (i.e. confirmed work order hours doing precision maintenance or similar) and to benefits delivery (i.e. reduced UDT).
  • Where practical, develop training effectiveness measures for content. Example: Planner training may drive improvements in Plan/Actual ratios, Wrench Time or Schedule Compliance. This role develops applicable measures to confirm training was understood, applied, and expected benefits are being realized.
  • Identify training required to drive specific metrics or to develop specific capabilities. Gaps in metrics and organizational capabilities can be used to identify which training a site may require as part of their Asset Care Tactical Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure all efforts are coordinated with work being done by Regional L&D team.
  • Develop efficient methods to share RCA findings and to reduce repeat failures.
  • Work with regional community to forecast training budget needs which should include Regional Reliability Academy events, Operational Reliability workshops and similar. This role owns always having a valuable training schedule in place for the region and for each site.
  • Drive and track the use of relevant M&R training development plans across your region.
  • Support CAPEX stage gate reviews, ensuring training needs are identified and content delivered as part of the turnover package and that training is included in the schedule.

  • Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why and similar Continuous Improvement methodologies
Competencies/Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable related field required
  • 15 years Maintenance experience; 5 years Predictive technologies experience
  • Certifications: Vibration 1; Infrared 1; Oil Analysis 1&2; and Ultrasonic 1
  • SMRP certification and similar is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in redefining reliability cultures.
  • Proven organizational change skills taking care of employees at all levels.
  • Shown ability to work autonomously and deliver significant impact in a fast-paced environment, against changing priorities and with limited resources.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Experience developing training content and administering training classes.
  • SAP Plant Maintenance and Materials Management module experience preferred.
Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of vibration data collectors and software, ultrasonic tools, IR camera, motor circuit analyzer and similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of maintenance organization design, business processes and metrics.
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance strategy development and optimization
  • Ability to lead Root Cause Failure Analysis reviews, 5-Why and other approaches
Reporting Relationships:

  • This position reports to the Regional Director of Reliability and functionally to the Regional Learning & Development Lead
