Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Business Leader (RBL), the Regional Sector Leader (RSL), US supports and drives top line growth throughout targeted geographies and Business Centers (BCs), alongside account managers, project delivery teams, and BC leadership. They are client, project, and industry facing who are accountable for developing and meeting top line goals and targets. The RSL will lead the deployment of process, tools, and systems to streamline projects from feasibility to execution. They will need to demonstrate experience in managing and leading large construction projects to assist our construction management team with deployment of resources and systems for existing and new opportunities. They serve as regional leaders to drive and promote sales collaboration bringing a wider sector focus to local, regional, national, and global clients while serving as advisors and strategic partners with BC leaders. The RSLs work collaboratively with BC leaders to identify and develop project opportunities, create win strategies through deep understanding of client needs/requirements, competition, and local drivers, and assist the BCs with building teams to deliver results and support anticipated growth.

This position is based in Phoenix, AZ where Stantec has several offices supporting various Business Lines such as Environmental Services, Mining, Minerals and Metals, Water and Wastewater, Transportation, and Buildings. The RSL is required to stay educated on the condition of the marketplace and associated technologies, vendors, and change conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sustaining and growing revenue and sales within the region with a focus on large multi-discipline engineering opportunities working collaboratively with the regional business centers, account teams, and project teams to achieve defined operational performance metrics

    Coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of professionals dedicated to growing our Mining, Minerals and Metals business and further developing Stantec's profile in the marketplace

    Work closely with the RBL and BC leadership to develop systems and process to further enhance our construction management capabilities

    Enhance engineering program management to improve project delivery from feasibility through execution

    Develop and execute program management strategies to advance client's objectives, manage risk, and manage priorities to overcome project challenges

    Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote and cross-sell various services across the region

    Contributing to the development and execution of the sector business strategy with accountability for region-specific strategies and priorities

    Supporting local business development pursuits and coordinating a core team of professionals to achieve business development and financial goals

    Collaborating with counterpart regional and individual Sector Leaders (SL) throughout other business lines to leverage client and sector information as well as expertise across offices

    Facilitating partnerships among integrated practice groups

    Identifying, positioning, pursuing, and winning strategic pursuits that are vital to maintaining Stantec's position as a leader in the mining, minerals and metals industry

    Meeting HSSE goals and targets and personal utilization requirement (>60%)

Marketing and Business Development:

  • Working collaboratively with the business line SLs, RBL, and the BC leaders in the region, support and drive regional business development pursuits including strategic proposal development for the sector and coordinating a core group of professionals to achieve business development and financial goals
  • Working with clients to create long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to internal and external clients
  • Supporting Risk Management processes
  • Proposal development, as needed
  • Possessing effective negotiation skills to define contract terms
  • Developing and maintaining industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, internal business units, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits
  • Keeping BC and business line leadership informed of potential issues that could negatively impact current or future business development efforts
  • Working collaboratively with the RBL and BC leadership to proactively plan, promote, and establish attendance, coverage, and participation on selected professional associations and at selected conferences (travel permitting) and maintaining active memberships in associations (such as board posts and committee memberships), as needed
  • Collaboration with marketing to develop capture plans, targeted campaigns, and support to proposal development
  • Business improvement - debriefing, lessons learned, requesting client feedback on proposals

Project Sponsorship:

  • Supporting successful delivery of projects in a sponsorship capacity
  • Mentorship of junior project managers and development of project managers into program managers

Strategic Thinking

  • Identifying trends and developing a long-term view of the industry, market, and clients
  • Assisting in the growth of Stantec by collaborating with our technical experts in the development of new and existing service areas
  • Anticipating medium and long-term client needs and industry dynamics
  • nnovating and enhancing Stantec's Mining capabilities, geographic foot-print, and integrated

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Broad general knowledge of the Mining, Minerals and Metals industry, including strong familiarity with other Stantec services required to support delivering projects to Stantec's Clients
  • Preexisting relationships and experience in working with mining clients from initial positioning through to contract award
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to engage, connect, and motivate others as well as empower, mentor, teach, and promote others
  • Ability to influence teams and stakeholders
  • Project delivery experience working with a diverse and distributed staff and client base
  • In-depth knowledge of Stantec's service offerings, processes, quality control standards, and industry standards
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% and work outside normal hours of operation

Education
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline or engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer is preferred
  • At least 15 years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility
