Regional Security Manager - Michigan

Job Description Summary

Leads the overall day-to-day operation for all AAM security related matters across all locations in MI, including the AAM WHQ campus. Impose the Global Security risk driven strategy to identify and mitigate potential companywide security vulnerabilities. Ensuring all sites comply with corporate policies and procedures. Working closely with other Regional Security Managers to analyze and understand intelligence and geopolitical data that could impact AAM globally. Protecting AAM assets, associates, properties, and clients, constantly evaluating the existing operation and identifying areas for improvement.

Job Description

The Regional Security Manager performs following overall duties under the direction of the Director of Global Security:

  • Determine security procedures, aligned with company security policies, by studying organization operations, establishing security internal controls in the geographic area/region
  • Conducts security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities related to physical security, staff, or asset protection. If necessary, develop mitigation plans for the geographic area/region.
  • Responsible for establishing liaison with local and federal law enforcement as well as attending relevant information sharing groups, roundtables, and conferences beneficial to the current or future security strategy of the company. e.g. become a member of relevant OSAC chapters in the geographic area/region.
  • Perform additional duties e.g. leading key subject area(s) based on experience and competency assigned by the Director of Global Security as required.

Physical Security

  • Lead region-wide security responsibilities for access control, security systems, and all physical security programs.
  • Supervise the work of contractors in the design, construction, and startup phases of security systems and ensure certified completion to security standards.
  • Review security design features, installations, or programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards or regulations.
  • Supervise all contracted security professional operating in the geographic area/region (including but not limited to MSAs for guarding services, including identifying eligible companies, negotiating the contract, budgeting and payment of services, review and approve established post orders).
  • Responsible for security aspects of visitor management in the geographic area/region.

Investigations

  • Manage region-wide security responsibilities for investigations under the directions of the AAM Lead Compliance Investigator.
  • Interview witnesses or suspects to identify persons responsible for security breaches, establish losses, pursue prosecutions, or obtain restitution.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on involuntary terminations, threats, behavioral concerns, backgrounds and safety and security issues.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement when required.

Travel Security / Intel.

  • Assess the nature and level of threats (low, medium, high, high risk) so that the scope of the problem can be determined, based on intel provided by the GSOC, develop a mitigation plan for the geographic area/region if required.
  • In conjunction with the GSOC, support and advise travelers in the geographic area/region and/or other involved regions and develop a mitigation plan when required. Coordinate with respective Regional Security Managers if traveler's itinerary involves travel into other geographic area/regions.
  • Collect and forward intel about relevant events in the geographic area/region to the GSOC for broader dissemination.
  • Review and evaluate disseminated intelligence provided from the GSOC to determine how it impacts AAM operations in the geographic area/region.

Crisis Management:

  • Review crisis and emergency policies and procedures for facilities in the geographic area/region.
  • Coordinate security response in conjunction with plant management during and after emergency events and provide the GSOC with real-time situational updates for broader dissemination.
  • Coordinate training of Crisis Management Team in the geographic area/region.

Executive Protection / Event Security:

  • Coordinate with AAM management on local special events and projects as requested.
  • Support executive travel in the geographic area/region and develop mitigation plans if required, based on the threat and risk level. Liaise with local/state law enforcement, and other external security professionals involved.
  • Responsible for the security of all international assignees and their families within the geographic area/region.

Required Skills and Education

  • BA degree preferred, but not required
  • Risk mitigation, physical security experience within automotive or manufacturing industry
  • 7-10-years' corporate security experience including global exposure
