Company Overview

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Government Affairs intern to help coordinate Congressional office communications, monitor legislative activities related to Kairos Power activities, and collaborate in development of Kairos Power policy priorities.

The Government Affairs intern will work in close consultation with the Kairos Power government affairs, strategy, communications, finance, and executive teams to track legislative contacts, identify and follow associated legislative activities, support development of strategy and policy positions, and coordinate with partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs).  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Tracks legislative contacts, committee assignments, etc., and maintains contact information in company’s contact management platform
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory activities related to Kairos Power priorities and identifies opportunities to engage and/or influence
  • Supports NGO activities, including messaging, input/feedback on priorities, etc.
  • Supports coordination of Government Affairs priorities in context of Kairos Power development program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degree in progress in Political Science, Public Policy, or similar discipline
  • Experience or familiarity with federal legislative organizations and processes highly desired 
  • Experience or familiarity with energy policy, advanced nuclear development, or similar
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation
  • Availability for full-time work between academic sessions and part-time work during academic sessions
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge

  • Communicating with others to exchange information
