Overview
- KBRA (Kroll Bond Rating Agency, LLC) is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Real Estate Investment Trust (REITs) team in the New York office. The ideal candidate will have a solid analytical foundation within the REIT and/or the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) sectors.
Key Job Requirements
- Participate in all elements of rating corporate debt of REITs and REOCs.
- Monitor key credit trends through review of quarterly financial statements, earnings call transcripts, and periodic calls with company management to discuss current market trends and company initiatives.
- Review bank and senior note covenant compliance statements; perform trend analysis versus prior periods.
- Update KBRA surveillance models, rating scorecards, rating committee memos, and ad-hoc financial reports and spreadsheets.
- Participate in review meetings with KBRA-rated issuers.
Key Skills/Expertise
- Strong corporate accounting skills and experience reviewing SEC documents including 10K/10Q reports and REIT supplementals.
- Experience with both US GAAP and IFRS reporting is preferred.
- Understanding of standard capital markets products including bank credit facilities, corporate bonds, private debt placements and preferred stock.
- Ability to read and understand bank credit agreements and senior note purchase agreements.
- Able to build pivot tables, lookup and index match formulas, and visual basic macros in Microsoft Excel, and create object links to Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Bloomberg data terminal. Ability to build BDP formulas using Bloomberg excel add-in a plus. Ability to extract and archive public company financial statements from Bloomberg and create time-series of quarterly/annual balance sheets and income statements.
- Utilize outside data sources and research to augment ratings surveillance.
- Proficiency in modeling or adapting company-level financial projections using Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to derive key real estate portfolio operating metrics (tenant and market concentrations, average remaining lease terms, changes in same-property NOI) from company-supplied data tables.
- Ability to present and discuss KBRA-calculated credit metrics with personnel of rated companies.
- Ability to travel for management meetings and property site inspections.
- Ability to work for a growing organization in a demanding and dynamic environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Real Estate.
- Three (3) or more years of business experience in the Real Estate industry.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Salary Range:
The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 to $90,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
