The Role

SimplePractice is seeking a Release Engineer to join the Release engineering team to assist in coordinating, planning, scheduling, and successfully delivering features in all of our environments. 

A Release Engineer's responsibility is to own the release management lifecycle including scheduling and coordinating releases across the company for multiple applications as well as response to production monitoring and managing rollbacks.

Whenever necessary, he/she will provide the tools and services needed to help product engineering teams manage and deploy code into production. The goal of the engineer is to handle consistent, on-time delivery of high quality releases. 

Responsibilities

  • Help scheduling, managing and coordinating releases across multiple applications within various different teams and projects
  • Manage and mitigate risks and resolve issues regarding release quality and schedule
  • Continuously monitor projects and provide reports about their progress
  • Monitoring the release process and collecting feedback from the different teams as well as customers for review
  • Making improvements on a regular basis to the release process

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of work experience
  • Comfortable working on the command line in linux environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working with remote teams, using tools such as Pivotal Tracker, GitHub, Asana, Slack, and Zoom
  • Working knowledge of static sites, and general knowledge of web applications.
  • Working knowledge of Linux environments
  • Knowledge of Docker/containerization
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages (Ruby/Javascript/Python)
  • Application performance monitoring (Datadog)
  • Some Knowledge to write basic SQL and knowledge of relational databases (MySQL)
