You are the conductor to the Agile Release Train (ART) orchestra, coaching and facilitating Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ART processes and program execution, escalating and unblocking impediments, and managing risk at the program-level. You are a Lean-Agile master, committed to data driven relentless improvement with a systems view, working with product and software leadership to develop an environment where meaningful self-organization can grow and thrive. You are a Program Manager / Release Train Engineer leading a team of teams within a SAFe community.
Are you up to the challenge?
- Facilitate the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agile Release Train (ART) processes and program execution.
- Escalate impediments, manage risk, and help drive program-level continuous improvement.
- Facilitate program level work within the SAFe framework and coordinating with all teams across the organization.
- Lead and facilitate software teams on the ART through development and delivery.
- Plan and facilitate all aspects of Program Increment Planning on a quarterly basis.
- Facilitate the Scrum of Scrum meetings and acts as a SAFe facilitator/coach at the Program level.
- Provide guidance on Agile, Scrum, and SAFe coaching Agile delivery teams to deliver value consistently.
- Support ART teams with ART Launch and Agile transformations guiding the transition to and implementation of SAFe.
- Serve as an expert on Agile software principles to other team members.
- Engage directly with stakeholders to define mission value and prioritize work and build intellectual capital in Agile techniques.
- Collaborate with the communities of practice and develop and conduct Agile-oriented training.
- Identify and deploy key metrics to enable continuous improvement. (e.g., burn-down, burn-up charts, cumulative flow diagram, etc.)
- Facilitate impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner.
- Act as a conduit to other teams and lines of business stakeholders
- Support and facilitate scrum ceremonies for the team where needed (Planning, Retrospective, Grooming & Review/Demo)
You should definitely have:
- 2+ years experience working in a scaled Agile environment as an RTE, Product Manager, or Agile Coach with a minimum of 5 teams.
- And/or 4+ years experience leading Agile teams as Scrum Master or Product Owner
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills, critical thinker, and self-starter
- Superior communication skills with all levels of employees both internal and external customers-including presentations, negotiations, and written reports and being as detailed as needed.
- A growth mindset and personal motivation to learn and improve
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a systems view on the strategic direction
- Willingness and ability to get down in the details "to make things happen"
- Event planning, 'no task is too small' attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding schedule constraints and technically challenging programs
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline
It would be nice if you had:
- Experience with launching Agile Release Trains.
- Scaled Agile certification (SPC or RTE)
- Exposure to the following technologies as a Scrum master, product owner or RTE:
- Java/J2EE.
- Web Services, Web APIs, and microservices
- SQL and NoSQL based solutions
- Cloud deployments, containers, and continuous integration
- SOAP and RESTful services.
- Hands-on software development experience, e.g. as a developer, QA, etc.
- Experience working with distributed / offshore teams
- Wireless Telecommunication experience, Satellite, and/or cellular a plus.
- Knowledge of Avionics systems a plus.
- Leadership experience managing direct reports
