Reliability Test Engineer Internship Fall/Winter Break 2023

Reliability Test engineers at Lunar Energy will be responsible for ensuring the validation of the product throughout the entire lifecycle of our revolutionary home energy products. As an intern, you will support these activities and will be expected to own/execute projects from beginning to end with mentorship. This is a full time, paid Fall/Winter 2023 internship.

On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…

• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers across the company to execute the various tests outlined in design validation plans. 
• Develop detailed instrumentation maps highlighting sensor and data acquisition needs.
• Design and build test fixtures and support equipment.
• Develop test scripts to automate exercising test articles as intended during the test.
• Collaborate with technicians to get test articles and data acquisition systems prepared for test execution.
• Process and analyze test data using various software tools to validate system performance.
• Share and present test results with detailed test reports and documentation.
• In the event of test failures, participate in failure or root cause analysis and help drive countermeasure identification and validation. 
• Maintain and contribute to a clean, safe, and organized laboratory.
  

Desired Skills:

• Recommended:
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, NX, CATIA…etc) and mechanical design. 
  • Experience with basic electrical circuits, wiring and troubleshooting  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
    • Leadership or project management experience, working cross functionally in project based settings is a bonus.  
  • Completed or in the middle of completing coursework in the following classes or roughly equivalent versions:
    • Mechanics of Materials
    • Electrical Circuits/Mechatronics
    • Introduction to Programming
    • Heat Transfer, Fluids or Thermodynamics
• Nice to have:
  • Experience in sensor specification, using data acquisition equipment and software (NI cDAQ or PXI preferred, but not required) 
  • Previous test engineering experience in environmental and durability testing 
  • Experience using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW. 
    

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The hourly range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is: $35.00 - $45.00 USD.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
