The Role
As we continue to grow as one QuidelOrtho we are seeking a Team Lead Reliability Engineer. The primary function of the Reliability Engineer primary function is to reduce the impact associated with asset downtime by driving life cycle asset management. This position will conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for analyzing an asset's entire design, assembly and manufacturing process to determine the potential causes of failure. They will develop and implement maintenance strategies to promote safety and reliable operations. This position collaborates with engineering and maintenance crews to develop a proactive maintenance approach in managing assets to mitigate early stages of failures and prevent occurrence. They will also monitor overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to identify and resolve adverse trends within manufacturing assets. Monitors and enforce a proactive obsolescence mitigation strategy.
This position is in Rochester, NY.
The Responsibilities
- Collaborates with project engineers in reviewing proposed and newly installed assets.
- Creates and monitor life cycle asset management (LCAM) plans, within LCAM stages, planning, procurement, maintenance and disposal.
- Assist in design and development planning for custom assets.
- Assist in the planning, manufacturing and assembly of assets to ensure they're reliable and suit for the operational environment.
- Provides technical support focused on preventative procedures for asset failure and diagnostics procedures for recurring failures.
- Perform predictive analysis to identify when and how failures might occur, and act proactively to minimize impact.
- Monitors overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to identify and resolve adverse trends within manufacturing assets
- Conduct root cause analysis to diagnose asset failures.
- Monitors and enforce a proactive obsolescence mitigation strategy.
The Individual
- Associate's degree in Engineering Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, calibration, or validation of equipment.
- Experience with SAP or Cal Pro would be desired.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, lead and/or support multiple tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.

The Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift 10 - 15lbs. Regularly handle chemicals for use in final release testing of laboratory analyzers to customers. Flexibility in work schedule, along with off hours support and coverage as necessary. The use of PPE as required by work area. Maintains and ensures neat and orderly work areas. Up to 10% travel over (Domestic / International as needed). Could require up to 50% travel for short durations during commissioning of new equipment at suppliers.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $53,000 to $96,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
