Reliability Test Engineer
Job Description
About us:
Aeva is building the next generation of sensing and perception for autonomous vehicles and beyond. With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long-range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass-market applications.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Reliability Test Engineer to join our dynamic Quality and Reliability Team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test strategies and protocols to guarantee reliable operation of Aeva's state-of-the-art 4D LiDAR. Your expertise will be vital in upholding the highest standards of excellence within our organization.
What you'll do:
- Design and develop comprehensive reliability test plans, protocols, and procedures for Aeva’s LiDAR systems and modules.Â
- Conduct reliability testing, including environmental, mechanical, thermal, and electrical stress tests.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in mechanical or electrical test setups, equipment, and signal processing.Â
- Manage and optimize lab test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Create automated test setups and scripts to efficiently conduct reliability tests.Â
- Identify and implement improvements in test processes and methodologies.
- Analyze test results, identify failure modes, and perform statistical analysis on test data to assess product reliability.
- Prepare detailed test reports, documenting test procedures, results, and recommended actions.
- Present findings to engineering and management teams to drive data-driven decisions.
- Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams to implement design changes based on reliability testing outcomes.
- Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in reliability engineering.
What you'll have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a hardware R&D lab or industry setting, specializing in the testing of electrical and mechanical components and systems.
- Experience with transducers, sensors, electrical circuits, signal processing, and data acquisition systems, including their integration and optimization in testing environments.
- Proficient in MATLAB and Python.
- Experience with failure analysis techniques.
- Experience with reliability testing methods including environmental chamber - programming and operation, mechanical testing, and electrical testing of consumer electronics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.Â
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Labview and NI InstrumentsÂ
- Familiarity with EMC testing and debugging techniques
- Good understanding of control systems theory
What's in it for you:
- Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching time cards
