What does a Head of Software Development do at Green Dot?

In this role you will lead our global software development team to deliver new and innovate technology solutions to our customers. You will design, and collaborate with, cross-functional teams, including technology, operations, and product, to deliver outstanding customer experiences. Partnering closely with the business, the successful candidate will effectively manage rapid feature development within a regulated environment while strengthening the engineering culture at Green Dot.

As a Head of Software Development, you can look forward to:

• Delivering innovative, customer-centric software solutions based on Green Dot's product roadmap
• Managing a globally distributed software development team, identifying, coaching and mentoring promising engineering managers and developers for broader roles
• Creating and executing a strategy for accelerating product delivery while enhancing quality
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team
• Building strong relationships between the business, technology and external service providers
• Leading all aspects of planning, budgeting and reporting associated with the software development organization
• Ensuring adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements, security, and departmental policies, practices and standard operating procedures
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the technical leadership of our customers

Required

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 12+ years of engineering management and/or software development experience required
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, distributed software development teams concurrently executing dozens of initiatives
• Expertise in designing and implementing robust yet flexible software delivery models ("agile", scrum, Kanban, etc), across people, process and technology concerns
• Ability to navigate and lead through ambiguity in a matrixed leadership environment
• Experience in payment, banking, and managing high-volume transaction systems
• Experience building and scaling distributed, highly available systems in cloud env (Azure / AWS)
• A strong bias for action and an innate desire for simplicity
• Expertise in understanding complex business needs, analyzing, designing, and developing solutions
• Able to synthesize complex information into concepts that resonate with non-technology stakeholders

Pluses

• Background in Microsoft-based technology stacks (C#, .NET, Azure)
• Experience leading efforts leveraging the Atlassian product suite
• Product management experience
• Demonstrated experience with Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning
• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field

PAY RANGE

The targeted base salary for this position is $197,600 to $301,800 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate's geographical location.
