Remote Lead Automation Engineer

Eaton's Vehicle Group is currently seeking a Remote Lead Automation Engineer to join our team. Relocation is available for individuals willing to relocate to the following Eaton locations; Kearney, NE, Kings Mountain, NC, Roxboro, NC or South Bend, IN. Remote work will be available for those unable to relocate to the above locations. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Position Overview:

The primary function of this position is leading efforts to drive manufacturing efficiency through implementation of automation projects.

In this function you will:

• Identify automation opportunities within the North American region
• Develop scopes of work for automation opportunities
• Establish a reliable automation supply base and work with them to obtain proposals for automation opportunities
• Prepare financial justification for automation projects
• Develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for automation projects
• Work with Finance and regional leadership to obtain CAR approval
• Manage capital and expense spending for assigned projects
• Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards
• Investigate, analyze and recommend new and/or alternate equipment and manufacturing methods
• Identifies and coordinates best practice implementation between multiple facilities
• Recommends and implements improvements to existing manufacturing operations, equipment and procedures
• Troubleshooting support for existing automation installations

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• 3 years of experience in automating manufacturing processes
• Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Ability to travel to other Eaton facility up to 25%

Preferred qualifications:

• Preferred 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience writing and debugging PLC ladder logic
• Experience programming HMI's
• Experience developing and implementing Robot programs
• Team-oriented, flexible, must be able to work with all levels of management
• Recognize and define safety improvements for all aspects of manufacturing processes.
• Lean Manufacturing
• 6 Sigma Green Belt
• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Solid Modeling experience
• Manufacturing Process Knowledge of some of the following:
  • Forging
  • Machining
  • Grinding
  • Assembly
• Ability to define specifications for automation of manufacturing operations
• Experience managing suppliers to ensure on time project execution
• Project Management skills to define, track and report on project status

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 - $120,000 a year. At Eaton, we know that good benefit plans are important to employees and their families.
