Your role at Baxter:

  • Care Communications is a division of Baxter focused on delivering clinical communication, workflow automation, and ground breaking mobile communication strategies to healthcare facilities, Remote Upgrade Engineers are an integral part of the team.
  • The Remote Upgrades Engineer performs detailed assessments of existing Baxter Care Communications product installations in order to upgrade products to the latest available software packages. Upgrade assessments require detailed knowledge of software, hardware, network design and topology, network integrations, etc.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and perform upgrades of Baxter Care Communications products. This primarily entails performing site assessments, upgrading applications on servers and proprietary devices/hardware, configuring system networks, and working with the customer's IT team to understand other variables in their environment to complete upgrades
  • Drive detailed technical discussions with internal teams and 3rd party partners regarding complex integrations as needed
  • Ensure performance, quality, and reliability is validated post upgrade for all Baxter Care Communications products
  • Participate in multi-functional teams to solve and resolve complex issues
  • Participate in teams driven toward continuous process improvement
  • Candidates should possess strong oral, written communication skills

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required or a minimum of 4 years equivalent experience in the software and/or networking fields plus two of the below certifications
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional interpersonal skills as this position consistently partners with R&D, project managers, and customers
  • Required knowledge in two or more of the following areas to support business needs:
  • SQL/Scripting/Reporting Engines/Analytics (SAS Crystal, etc.)
  • Networking (TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, Security)
  • Enterprise level hardware (Server/Client OS, SANS, RAID)
  • Middleware (Rhapsody, etc.)
  • HL7
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Linux, Kubernetes
  • Wireless - Enterprise level/managed networks
  • Preferred Certifications in the following:
  • CompTIA Network+, CCNA (or higher),CompTIA Security+, CompTIA, Linux+, CompTIA ITF, CompTIA A+, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or LPI Linux Essentials
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Windows platforms, SQL, IIS server and other networked systems.
  • Advanced understanding of deploying and supporting Linux based platforms (Kubernetes) and associated networked systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of common network protocols / architecture (TCP/IP, IP routing, the OSI model, VLAN) and their relevant security issues
  • Detailed knowledge of common network protocols/architecture (TCP/IP, IP routing, OSI model, VLAN, etc), client/server networking environments and standard processes, managed switches, VOIP, and network security.
  • Knowledge of WiFi wireless technologies with security protocols
  • Basic VoIP and/or PBX telephony knowledge and basic configuration experience
  • Experience configuring, setting up, and debugging Windows and Linux based systems

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $60,000 - $132,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
